My story

Coraline is a 3-year-old sweetheart who was brought into the rescue after being e-listed for a medical concern involving increased pressure in one eye. From the moment she was found and brought to the shelter, she showed how gentle and kind she is—calm around kids, happy to be petted, and generous with kisses. We were lucky to be able to find a foster that allowed us to bring her in and assess all of her medical needs. In her foster home, Coraline has settled in well with proper, thoughtful introductions. During her first week and a half, she tried to “herd” the other dogs when play got too intense, occasionally nipping at legs or feet. This behavior has greatly improved and now only pops up if play becomes overly rough. She is playful and social with both small and large dogs, though she does like to be in charge. Coraline is a medium-energy girl who enjoys walks, meals, treats, belly rubs, cuddles, and affection. She does well in a crate when left alone but spends time freely with the other dogs when her foster family is home. Like many dogs adjusting to home life, she’s still working on some manners—such as counter surfing, chewing on non-dog items, jumping up, and some resource guarding around other dogs—but she responds very well to correction and continues to make progress. Coraline would do best in an active home, though she could thrive in a variety of family types and would enjoy having another dog in the home. Due to her vision challenges, she tends to stay close to her people and may occasionally get underfoot, so a home with kids aged 7+ is recommended, especially for the safety of younger children or anyone who may easily lose their balance. She doesn’t currently (or previously) live with any cats, so we are unsure how she would do in a home with them. Coraline is a loving girl who is ready to shine in a forever home that will cherish her gentle heart. Adoption Application: https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/
