My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.CUDDLE BEAR hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and came south with his sister, Love Bug, to find his forever home.  He’s received his first and second sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. He was part of a litter of 6 puppies but this rescue received the remaining 2 of them. The “Valentines Duo” and their 4 siblings were found all alone with no parents so the breeds we have him listed as is just an educated guess based on what he looks like, although his sister does look like a Border Collie/Husky so that’s one of why we have him listed as the breeds he is. The same can be said about the size he’ll grow to be as without knowing his parents, we really have no idea how big he’ll grow to be. He’s a very quiet little guy and he certainly lives up to his name and is the cuddliest little guy you could ever meet. He loves his hoomans and follows them around everywhere as he doesn’t want to miss out on any cuddles they maybe able to put his way. As well as being a cuddly boy, he’s also a typical active little puppy who loves to run around and chew on his teething toys.  CUDDLE BEAR has been bit of a challenge to get crate trained as he just doesn’t like to be in there. His foster now gives him a Nyla bone to chew on when she puts him in there and that seems to help. At night she has his crate door open and an X-pen attached to it so he’s still contained but he has more space, which he seems to prefer. However, he’s in his crate when home alone and he’s on camera so although he’ll make a fuss when he first goes in there, it doesn’t take too long before he settles down. House training is going really well and he will cry to go outside for a bathroom break. He will have the odd accident still if the signs are missed that he needs to go outside so it is still a work in progress for him. He’s just started to go on walks and he is now learning that he can go to the bathroom while outside on walks too. Walking sometimes can be a bit slow as he loves to sniff around and investigate everything he sees. He’s very well mannered at meal times and does “sit” nicely for them and he will also take his treats “gentle.” CUDDLE BEAR’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors and to go on hikes and walks in the woods. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He’ll do well in a home with another dog as he’s fostered with several of them and he loves to socialize with them too.  He’s not met a cat but seeing as he’s such a gentle boy he should do fine with one in his adoptive home but we do strongly recommend a slow, monitored introduction while he’s leashed for the first few times they meet or interact. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time and definitely not crated for more than a few hours during the day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe while he has a run around and play outside.  CUDDLE BEAR, like all puppies, is cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to take him for puppy/obedience training to help him to become the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of him (preferably in a cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If CUDDLE BEAR sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 11, 2026, 2:21 pm
