Toad

My story

Toad is an almost two-year-old pup who has already overcome more than most dogs ever should, and through it all, he’s remained an incredibly sweet and good-hearted boy. He came to us as a puppy after being dropped off in someone’s front yard, critically ill and in need of emergency surgery for an intestinal double intussusception. After healing, we believed he had found his forever home, but sadly, Toad was returned and when he came back to us, he was completely shut down and terrified of the world. With the help of our friends at Connected Canine, he is now in a board-and-train program, where Toad is learning that life isn’t as scary as he once thought. Beneath his fear is a loving, loyal boy who wants so badly to trust, to connect, and to feel safe. Each day, his confidence grows and his sweet personality shines through a little more. Toad was never broken, he just hadn’t found his people yet. He was simply lost. And now? Now he’s ready for a fresh start. A true forever with someone who will love him the way he deserves.
