This sweet, quiet girl is a gentle soul who truly blossoms with kindness and care. She’s smart and already knows a few tricks, and she enjoys learning - especially when tasty rewards like cheese (her favourite!), dried liver, or dried beef are involved. Marlene loves being snuggled, giving kisses, and soaking up ear scratches, and she’ll happily seek out pets and affection from her people. She gets excited for her walks and enjoys taking her time sniffing and observing everything around her. She walks very well on leash and is a joy to explore with. Marlene is house trained and crate trained, doing wonderfully in her crate and often choosing to go in on her own to nap. She’s very quiet indoors and enjoys spending time in the backyard, where she can relax and play at her own pace. She’s friendly when meeting new people and has met a few kids, all of whom she’s liked. She does tend to warm up more quickly to women and can be a bit slower with men, but given time, she builds trust and shows her loving nature. Watching her adapt to new environments and meet new people is incredibly rewarding. On walks, Marlene does have a prey drive toward small animals and can be nervous around traffic and loud sounds, so she would do best in a quieter, suburban environment. She currently lives with another dog, though they don’t yet share space as she’s taking her time adjusting to a new canine companion. She’s said hello nicely to another dog in the neighbourhood and watches dogs with interest on walks, but she isn’t a fan of dogs running at her or getting in her face. With slow, thoughtful introductions, she could live with another dog, though she would also be perfectly happy as a solo pup. Marlene would thrive in a loving home that can help build her confidence and allow her to truly blossom.
