My story

Hi… my name is Holly. Before I even had the chance to understand what the world was, I was standing at the edge of losing it. I was on a euthanasia list. I didn’t know what that meant — only that everything felt uncertain and scary. But someone gave me another chance. Now I’m here, waiting for you. I’m a little shy at first. When I meet new people or step into new places, I like to pause and watch from a small distance. I just need a moment to understand that I’m safe. If you give me that time, I promise you’ll see something special — I’ll slowly walk closer, maybe sit near you, maybe rest quietly by your side. I’m not the kind of girl who rushes in with big, dramatic affection. I’m the kind who loves deeply once I trust you. Because I’m a Shiba mix, I’m observant and thoughtful. I notice your tone, your mood, the way you move. The less you rush me, the faster I open my heart. I get along well with other dogs too. I don’t push to be the center of attention — I prefer to read the room and join gently. I’m only 10 months old. I’m still learning what it means to live in a home. House rules, walks, playtime, rest — these are all things I’m ready to learn with you. What I need most isn’t pressure to be perfect. I need patience. Consistency. A calm voice that says, “It’s okay, Holly. Take your time.” If I can grow up in a stable home… If someone calls my name softly each day… If I can build trust little by little… I will become a steady, loyal, deeply devoted companion. I’m looking for a family who appreciates quiet connection. A family who understands that love doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. A family who will cherish the moment when a shy dog finally chooses to lean into them. I was once almost out of time. Now I’m waiting for my forever. Will you hold my paw and show me that my world can be filled with safety instead of fear — with love instead of uncertainty? I’ll be waiting for you. 🐾
