My story

Lumi came to us after being humanely trapped off the freeway in Phoenix, and from the very beginning, we knew she was something special. She’s a young Labrador mix, around 6–9 months old, with a heart as big as her bright future. Despite her rough start, Lumi has proven to be an absolute lover girl. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, and deeply affectionate. She adores people, does wonderfully with other dogs, and has a soft, soulful presence that draws you in. The kind of dog who quietly melts into your arms and reminds you how special rescue dogs truly are. We named her Lumi because we rescued her the night before the Snow Full Moon. The name means “snow” and “light,” and it suits her perfectly—soft, radiant, and full of warmth. She truly is a little light. While trapping her, we quickly learned that Lumi has some impressive athletic abilities. She’s talented at squeezing through tiny spaces and has proudly shown us that she can scale fencing like a pro. Because of her intelligence and adventurous spirit, we’ve decided to set her up for long-term success by sending her to board and train with our friends at Sofus Dog Training. There, she’ll work on building confidence, learning boundaries, adding structure to her routine, and mastering basic obedience so she can thrive in her future home. Lumi is kind, loving, and truly one of those dogs who leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets.
