My story

DOB: November 1st 2014 Meet Max! Max’s personality is two parts sweet boy and three parts grumpy old man — and honestly, that’s what makes him so special. He enjoys being near his people and likes to keep you company, but he’s not a lap cat and prefers his personal space. Max appreciates head and cheek rubs (which earn you a happy, rumbling purr), but he’ll let you know with a gentle swat when he’s had enough affection. He believes in clear boundaries! Max came to us in rough shape - weighing 30 pounds, struggling with arthritis, severely matted and with zero appetite. With care and dedication, he’s gotten his appetite back and slimmed down to 22 pounds — an amazing accomplishment! Max really does have a love for food. He’ll happily finish his own meal and then supervise yours — closely. You’ll never dine alone with Max around. He still has more progress to make and will need to stay on a special diet, along with monthly Solensia injections to help manage his arthritis and keep him comfortable. Because of his size and arthritis, Max isn’t very active, but he does surprise us with little bursts of energy. He especially enjoys batting at ropes and ribbons when the mood strikes. Max would do best in a calm home that understands and respects his independence. He’s a wonderfully quirky companion who offers quiet loyalty, steady companionship, and sweet head bumps — on his terms, of course. If you’re looking for a character cat with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Max might just be your guy.
