**Note: Currently, Velvet is in a foster home in Toronto. Background Velvet was rescued this past summer from a city pound in Milyang, Korea during our Save 100 Dogs campaign. She lived with other dogs at our partner boarding house until she left Korea. She is now living in a foster home in Toronto while waiting for her forever family. Personality and Socialization Velvet is a gentle and loving girl with a soft nature. Her energy level is moderate, and she gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes. With people, she is warm, affectionate, and friendly. She may be a little shy at first, especially with men, but she opens up with time and tasty treats. She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, she loves staying close to her person and enjoys gentle attention. She is happiest when she can curl up beside you. She has not had any experience with cats. Behaviour Velvet used to do well in the car, but since moving to Canada, she has been a little nervous about getting in. She will need some time and patience to feel comfortable again. She is very patient during baths and grooming. She loved going for walks in Korea, but she is still adjusting to her new surroundings in Toronto. Velvet has been quiet, sweet, friendly, and attentive. She will use indoor pee pads when needed. She has not shown any destructive behavior or separation anxiety, and she loves her toys. Health and Diet Velvet has received full veterinary care. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and on regular parasite prevention. She eats dry kibble and has no known allergies or special food requirements. When she was first rescued, she tested positive for Hepatozoon from a tick bite, but she completed her treatment and is now healthy and ready for her forever home. Ideal Home Velvet would be happiest in a home where a woman is present most of the time, as she feels especially comfortable with women. She had no issues with men in Korea, but since relocating to Canada, she has become a little more nervous around them. With time, patience, and gentle reassurance, she will continue to build confidence. A quiet, patient, and loving home with a calm lifestyle would be ideal for Velvet. Another gentle small dog could be a lovely companion for her, but it is not required. As she is still adjusting to life in Canada, an experienced and understanding adopter would be a wonderful match. Velvet is sweet, gentle, and deeply loving. Whoever welcomes her into their home will be very lucky. ------------------------------------------ Become Velvet's family through link below: https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/velvet/
