My story

I’m Janis, and I’m ready to tell you my story—because somewhere out there, I just know someone is looking for a sweet, gentle, red&#226&#128&#145coated girl like me. I’m about two years old, around 25 pounds, and part of a big family that arrived at a California pound all at once: my dad, my mom, my three siblings, and me. We’d lived our whole lives together, and suddenly everything changed. But even with all that uncertainty, I’ve stayed hopeful, curious, and eager for a fresh start. I’m staying now at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, where the humans say I’m one of the “redheads” of the group. My coat is a warm, soft red—almost fox&#226&#128&#145like—and people tell me I’m beautiful. I don’t know much about beauty, but I do know I love gentle pets, kind voices, and people who take their time with me. I’m friendly and social, just like the rest of my family, but I’m still learning what it means to be a companion in a human world. Before coming here, I don’t think I ever lived inside a house. I’m not sure what couches are for, or why humans get so excited about refrigerators, or how to walk politely on a leash. Commands like “sit” and “stay” are new concepts to me, but I’m smart, and I’m eager to learn. I just need someone patient who understands that I’m starting from the beginning—but I promise I’ll try my hardest to make you proud. I don’t bark much, and I’m not a high&#226&#128&#145energy whirlwind. I’m more of a soft, steady presence who likes to observe before jumping in. I’m gentle with people, and I warm up quickly once I know you’re safe. I haven’t been around cats or small children, so I’m not sure how I’d feel about them yet, but I do well with calm, kind humans who give me space to understand new things at my own pace. The rescue has taken wonderful care of me. I’ve been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, so I’m all set for my next chapter. What I need now is a home where I can blossom—someone who will show me what it means to be loved, to be part of a family, and to have a place that’s truly mine. I imagine quiet mornings, soft beds, slow walks as I learn how leashes work, and evenings curled up nearby while you relax. I imagine trust, routine, and the feeling of belonging. Maybe you’re imagining the same thing. I may not know everything yet, but I know this: I have a big heart, a gentle soul, and so much love to give. I’m ready for my new beginning.
