Love is in the air! February may have come and gone, but Valentine the cat gives love all year round. This handsome tuxedo cat came to EHS from a crowded municipal shelter. Not much is known about his past, but we are confident that his future will be rosy. ABOUT VALENTINE- At shelter - Valentine is a skittish cat who appears to have had minimal experience with humans. - He is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help him become more comfortable around people.- Shelter volunteers have described Valentine as a “shy but sweet and gentle guy.” - Valentine has started to accept occasional pets by hand, especially on the chin and cheeks, and is okay with some gentle affection from the back-scratcher. One day at a time, little love. - This boy still spends quite a bit of time hiding behind his cubby, but is starting to come out more and more, especially when it’s time to eat. - Who says candy and treats on Valentine’s Day are too commercialized? Not our boy; he has even started taking treats from our volunteer’s hand.- Funny fact: Valentine often sleeps upside down in his cubby. - Volunteers report that Valentine can be vocal when he wants to “call them back” after they leave, and is also vocal during his out time. - Valentine is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations. VALENTINE’S IDEAL HOME- Valentine will benefit from a calm, quiet environment. - He does occasionally door dash so would not be suitable in a home with children. - Valentine has had visits from compatible shelter cats (Hibiscus and Abernathy) and seemed to enjoy the company of his feline friends, willingly entering into the cubby as a group. He would do well in a multi-feline home. - His compatibility with dogs is unknown. - Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Valentine settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Valentine with a successful transition to his forever home. Are you ready to fall in love with Valentine?
