My story

HOPPER - REPORTING FOR FUN DUTY. Introduction That’s right. Chief Hopper has entered the building. Another proud member of the Freedom Squad Stranger Crew — one of the 11 dogs rescued from a breeder release. Age: 2 years old. Build: muscular little tank. Occupation: Zoomie Commander and Professional Snorer. Not long ago I didn’t know much about the world. Now I’m discovering couches, doggy doors, toys, car rides, nose butter, and luxury living — and I’m adapting quickly. THE ENERGY SITUATION I have two settings. Setting one is FULL SEND — zoomies, running like a cannonball, wrestling with dog friends, and generally acting like the strong, athletic Frenchie that I am. Setting two is deep relaxation mode where I sploot like a yoga mat, stretch dramatically, fall into a deep sleep, and snore like I just finished a double shift at the Hawkins Police Department in The Upside Down LEARNING HOW TO BE A HOUSE DOG Inside life is incredible. Couches, air conditioning, soft beds, and humans who love you. I’m still figuring out the difference between inside rules and outside rules, but I’m learning quickly and doing really well. POTTY TRAINING PROGRESS I’ve learned how to use the doggy door, which might be one of the greatest inventions ever created. Potty training is going really well. I still hike my leg here and there because old habits take time to break, but every day I’m getting better. THE 3-3-3 RULE (MY TRAINING ARC) Dogs like me coming from breeder situations need time to adjust. The 3‑3‑3 rule is important for me and I’m doing great with it so far. I’m learning a lot by watching my foster siblings. MY PLAY STYLE I love having dog friends to play with and learn from. Sometimes I stand in front of one of my foster siblings or block them like a hall monitor. My foster dad says that’s a dominance behavior and we’re working on it. I’m learning that everyone gets love and nobody has to compete for it. I think I’m just scared, I won’t get it again and it is a freaking luxury! Can you believe LOVE is a luxury? CAR RIDES & ADVENTURES My first car ride was the long trip back to Arizona and I handled it like a champ. I settle quickly once the car starts moving, so I’m ready for adventures. LEASH TRAINING I’m learning leash walking and making great progress. Foster dad currently gives me three out of five stars, which is pretty solid for someone learning everything from scratch. THE BREATHING & SNORING SITUATION I’m what my foster dad lovingly calls a loud breather. And when I fall asleep the snoring becomes legendary — especially when I’m stretched out splooted like a yoga mat. In a deep trance I tell yea!!! If my foster dad makes one sound my eyes are locked in on him. What if he leaves me! That’s initially what goes through my brain. He doesn’t its cool, I’m just a bit needy and nervous. THE SLOBBER SPA EXPERIENCE I’m a slobber enthusiast. My foster dad wipes my face a lot and at first I was suspicious, but now I love it. I even have my own towel. And then there’s nose butter — wow that stuff is amazing. Apparently dogs have spa products and I’m here for it. My absolute favorite thing is when foster dad scratches and massages under my chin. THE MYSTERY RINGING SOUND For a while I kept hearing this strange ringing sound and had no idea what it was. Now I know exactly what it means and I’m very aware of it. It’s the camera!! I’m learning how this whole system works. MY IDEAL HOME My perfect home will understand the 3‑3‑3 rule, give me patience while I keep learning, provide structure and consistency, and let me run, play, and burn off my energy. FROM BREEDER DOG TO STRANGER CREW Not long ago I didn’t know what couches were. Now I have foster siblings, humans who teach me things, car rides, chin scratches, and a whole world opening up around me. I’m Hopper, and I’m just getting started. Hopper is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, his adoption donation fee is $1250.00. Currently he is being fostered in Phoenix, AZ and you can apply for him at freedomfrenchierescue.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hopper, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
