My story

Meet Alanis — Your New Best Friend in the Making! Every once in a while, a dog comes along whose story tugs at your heart and whose personality shines so brightly that you can’t help but fall in love. Alanis is one of those dogs. This sweet, gentle girl has already been through quite an adventure, and now she’s hoping the next chapter of her life will be the one where she finally finds her forever home. Alanis began her journey in California, where she ended up in the pound along with her entire family — her two sisters, her brother, and even her mom and dad. It’s not often you see an entire canine family come through together, and it speaks volumes about how deeply connected they all were. Thankfully, caring folks in California stepped in and arranged for Alanis to catch a ride to Central Arizona Animal Rescue, where she is now safe, loved, and patiently waiting for someone special to discover her. A Little About Alanis Alanis is a compact, medium-sized girl weighing in at about 25–30 pounds — the perfect size for someone who wants a dog big enough for adventures but small enough to snuggle comfortably on the couch. Her coat is short, smooth, and easy to maintain, mostly white with warm tan patches that give her a soft, expressive look. One of her most striking features is the dark circles around her eyes, almost like she’s wearing natural eyeliner. It gives her a soulful, thoughtful expression that makes her instantly memorable. Based on her appearance and the look of her siblings, Alanis may be a mix of Jack Russell Terrier and Shiba Inu — a combination that often results in a smart, alert, affectionate companion with a playful streak. Whatever her exact mix, she’s a beautiful girl with a personality to match. Her Personality Alanis is friendly, social, and eager to connect. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys meeting new people. Whether she’s greeting visitors at the rescue or playing with canine friends, she brings a gentle, upbeat energy to every interaction. Because her past is a bit of a mystery, there are still a few things we don’t know. We’re not sure how she feels about cats or small children, simply because she hasn’t been tested with them yet. She could very well be great with both — we just haven’t had the chance to find out. She also may not have lived indoors before, so she’ll need a patient adopter who can help her learn the rhythms of home life. With kindness, consistency, and a little time, she’s sure to blossom. ‍♀️ Training & Care Alanis is already spayed, microchipped, and current on all her vaccinations — she’s fully prepared to start her new life. She’s working on her leash skills and could use a bit more practice, but she’s eager to learn and responds well to gentle guidance. Her short coat requires very little grooming, just the occasional bath to keep her fresh and clean. Could You Be Her Forever Family? Alanis is ready for a home where she can feel safe, loved, and included. She’s the kind of dog who will reward your patience and affection with loyalty, companionship, and endless heart. If you’d like to meet this lovely girl and see if she’s the perfect match for your family, please reach out to us at mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. Alanis can’t wait to meet you — and maybe start the rest of her life by your side.     All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
