My story

DOB February 1, 2020 This sweet girl is a gentle, affectionate companion who loves being close without being clingy. She happily settles on your chest in the mornings and evenings for cozy cuddle sessions, especially if chin or cheek scratches are involved. She enjoys affection but also knows her limits - after about 20 minutes she’ll politely hop off to do her own thing. She has adorable bursts of playful energy throughout the day and loves to chase crinkly balls and plastic springs and stuffed animals. Once she’s gotten her zoomies out, she’s back to being a calm, observant little shadow who follows you from room to room. She prefers to nap near you rather than right underfoot, and she’s not a troublemaker - no plant‑chewing, no counter‑raiding, no knocking things over. She explores every corner of the home but doesn’t climb higher than counter height. Even when she plays, she’s gentle: almost no claws, soft little nibbles, and rarely a mark left on you. But she has her boundaries and will let you know with her tail. When she first arrived, she was nervous and defensive, but she hasn’t hissed in weeks (and even then, it was only from overstimulation). With patience and kindness, she has transformed into a trusting, affectionate, and gentle cat. She has had digestive issues since moving into foster care and having changes in her diet. It's expected that once she settles down, this will resolve with time and acclimation to her food. She tolerates being picked up but prefers to keep her paws on the ground. She would do best in a calm home without young children, as she can get overstimulated with too much handling. With visitors, she’s cautious at first but warms up once they settle in. Katherine is a wonderful mix of independent and affectionate, playful and calm. She’s ready for a patient adopter who will let her continue to blossom at her own pace.
