My story

Blake — The Little Sister You Didn’t Know You Needed “I Was Almost Someone Else’s… But I Was Meant for More” Hi… I’m Blake. I’m 3 years old, about 17 pounds, and I came from Riverside County. I was actually supposed to be adopted there, but it didn’t work out. And honestly? I think that’s because I wasn’t meant for just any home—I was meant for the right one. Because I didn’t just need love… I needed help first. At some point in my life, my hip was hurt really badly and no one fixed it. I just learned to live with it the best I could. But when I got to rescue, they saw me—like really saw me. I had a surgery called an FHO (femoral head ostectomy), where they fixed my leg so I could finally move without pain. So yeah… I’ve been through some things. But I’m still here. And I’m still standing. “Look At Me Now” My foster mom works with me at home to keep me strong. We do different exercises together to make sure my leg stays straight and supported, and she’ll show my new family exactly what to do so I can keep thriving. I also go on walks, move around a lot, and stay active—and it really helps me. And guess what? I can run. Like really run. I’m fast, I keep up, and I play like nothing ever held me back. “Boss Little Sister Energy” Okay… let’s just get this out of the way. I’m the little sister. The bossy one. The one who gets in your face, starts the game, and then acts like I didn’t do anything. I LOVE playing with other dogs—especially my friend Tootsie. I do this thing where I get low, bark right in her face, and then jump on her. Sometimes I can be a little… much. So I’ll go sit in the middle of the yard like, “I’m done now,” and watch everyone else. But don’t worry—I always come back for round two. My BEST friend though? Pinky. She lets me sleep in her crate in Braxton’s room, and she doesn’t let just anyone do that. I can be an only dog, but I really love and prefer having a friend. “Yes, I Have A Lot To Say” I bark. At things. At nothing. At vibes. But when you tell me to stop, I do. I just want attention. “Big World, Big Feelings” When you take me outside of the house—like to the car or out the front door—I can get overwhelmed. Sometimes I just freeze. I think my biggest fear is being left again. I do much better when I have a dog friend with me. I just need someone patient. “I’m Actually A Very Good Girl” I’m potty trained and crate trained. I might act like I don’t love the crate, but I use it. I eat a fish-based kibble with freeze-dried raw mixed in. I love breakfast more than dinner. I’ll let you trim my nails and I LOVE wearing clothes. “Wait Until You See My Dance” When I get excited, I do a little boogie dance and kick my back leg. It’s kind of my thing. “My Past Doesn’t Define Me… But It’s Part Of Me” You might notice my toes are spread out. They call it crate feet. But now I have space, friends, and a real life. I will never be left like that again. “Why Me?” I’ve been in rescue since January. I’ve healed, grown, and learned how to enjoy life. I’m not perfect. I’m a little extra. But I love hard and show up every day. “My Perfect Home” I would do great with gentle kids. Cats are unknown but I likely wouldn’t care much. I would love a dog friend. “The Only Thing I’m Missing…” …is a home of my own. I’ve already done the hard part. Now I’m just ready to belong. Blake is vaccinated, spay and microchipped, she is being fostered in Mesa, AZ. Her adoption donation fee is $1100.00 and you can apply for her at freedomfrenchierescue.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Blake, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
