My story

Please Note: Adoption applicants for Precious must reside within the Phoenix Metro or Prescott areas of Arizona.   Hi, I’m Precious - and yes, I live up to the name.   I’m a one-year-old Shih Tzu with a calm, cuddly soul and a playful spark when the moment is right. My absolute favorite place in the world? Snuggled up next to my person. I’m the kind of girl who will happily curl into your lap, rest my head on you, and make everything feel a little more peaceful. But don’t let my chill vibes fool you - I also love to play, especially with other young, fun-loving dogs! If you already have a playful pup at home, I would be over the moon to have a built-in best friend. I learn a lot from other dogs too (more on that in a second!).   I enjoy going on walks and exploring the world by your side. I’m curious and happy to take it all in, but I’m polite on leash and don’t pull, so our adventures together will be easy and relaxing.  I came from a home where my person loved me very much, but she had to move into memory care. Because of that, I’m really hoping to find a forever family who will love me for the rest of my life (I could have another 15 years of love to give!). I bond deeply with my people and would thrive in a home that’s ready to make a lifelong commitment.   I’m currently learning my house manners in my foster home. I didn’t quite get the hang of housebreaking before, but I’m a smart girl and already making progress! Having another dog around who knows the routine would really help me keep learning; I'm a great student when I have a good role model.  A few more things you should know about me; I’m friendly with everyone I meet - humans and dogs alike! I’m not barky (I prefer quiet cuddles over noisy chatter). I have lovely manners around my food and am not possessive at all. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly companion who will adore you endlessly - and maybe a playful buddy for your current pup too - I might just be your perfect match.
