Layla is a beautiful German Shepherd with a heart as resilient as it is loyal. This beautiful girl has been through more than most, yet she continues to shine with love and devotion. Sweet Layla once belonged to a homeless man and lived on the streets of Houston. Layla was tragically caught in the middle of a brawl between her former owner and a pedestrian, and she got stabbed. Her former owner went to the hospital and Layla was taken to the shelter, which, ironically gave her a second chance at life. Kind hearted samaritans rallied to get her safe and she ended up with Save some souls. Fortunately, her chest X-rays revealed that the stab wounds were superficial, and she healed quickly—both physically and emotionally—showing just how strong and forgiving she truly is. She came out of the shelter, wagging her tail, happy to be rescued at last. Layla is currently being fostered in Texas, but can be transported to most every state and even Canada to the right home. This city girl would thrive in a home where she can be close to her people, soaking up plenty of attention, affection, and love. Layla is 4 years old, weighs 60 lbs, fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. She lives with both dogs, cats, and farm animals and usually gets along with everyone, unless there is a naughty squirrel or a bird who wants her to give them a chase. She is a loving and attentive companion who truly enjoys being part of a family. Incredibly smart and protective as expected of her breed, Layla loves to go on walks, play in the yard, or simply relax by your side - She is happiest when she’s with her humans. Layla has a confident yet gentle personality and forms deep bonds with those she trusts. Layla is looking for a home that understands and appreciates the German Shepherd breed—one that can offer her stability, love, and engagement. In return, she will give unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and a lifetime of companionship. After everything she’s been through, Layla deserves a safe, loving forever home. Could that be with you? To meet this wonderful girl via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application form via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Layla's adoption fee of $400 includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and Harness. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. We need the parents to be patient and compassionate towards the changes that these pups are undergoing, being taken away from a home they came to know as their own to a new environment. 3-3-3 Rule of Adoption must be followed at all times to make adoption successful. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued from our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank You for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Layla, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
