My story

QUICK FACTS Name: Doongchi Age: 3 years old Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Jindo mix Color: Cream Weight: 16kg / 35lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY My past was a very difficult one. I was rescued from a situation of severe neglect and later found myself on the euthanasia list at a crowded city pound due to lack of space. On top of that, one of my front legs had already been amputated before I was rescued—something no one fully knows the story behind. But despite everything I’ve been through, I haven’t lost my spirit. I’ve shown just how resilient and strong I am, and I continue to move forward with a gentle, positive heart. I don’t let my past define me—instead, I’m focused on finding a loving home and starting a new, brighter chapter filled with care, safety, and happiness.   MY HEALTH Neutered All vaccinations up-to-date 3-legged amputee — but I don’t let that slow me down! I’ve adapted really well and go about my daily life with confidence and ease, just like any other dog.   MY PERSONALITY can be a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly and truly enjoy interacting with people. With just a bit of patience, my affectionate and social side comes out easily. I’ve had lots of experience walking on leash with volunteers and staff, and I’m comfortable and confident during our outings. From the very beginning after my rescue, I showed just how much I love people—I naturally seek out connection and enjoy being close to my humans. I’m also very gentle and trusting with people—even during grooming or nail trims, I stay relaxed, often showing my belly and calmly enjoying the attention. My soft, cooperative nature makes caring for me easy, and I genuinely enjoy those quiet, bonding moments.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I can be a little shy at first, but I do warm up. Once I feel safe, my gentle and affectionate side comes through quite quickly. I do especially well in environments where I feel settled and comfortable, though I may need a bit of time at the beginning to adjust to new places. As I build trust, I’m very cooperative and sweet—I’ll take treats from your hand, enjoy gentle pets, and even allow myself to be picked up. When I’m fully comfortable, I’ll happily show my belly and relax, showing just how much I trust and enjoy being with you. · With Dogs: I enjoy greeting new dogs and playing with them, and I tend to get along best with dogs around my size. I have a friendly, social nature, but if another dog is very high-energy, I can get a bit amped up too—so taking breaks in between playtime helps me stay balanced and comfortable. I also take a lot of comfort in my dog friends and benefit from their companionship, often looking to them for reassurance and emotional support. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to ensure the best fit.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level—I enjoy getting outside for walks, fresh air, and some playtime, but I’m just as happy to relax and nap once I’ve had my activity. I have a nice balance of being active and then settling down, making me an easy companion for both outings and quiet time at home.   TRAINING & HABITS I walk very well on leash and often receive compliments from volunteers and staff on what a well-behaved and enjoyable walking companion I am. I have great manners around food and don’t guard my meals from people or other dogs, making me easygoing and pleasant to be around. I may bark occasionally when I’m looking for attention, but I settle down quickly and am overall a quiet, calm boy. I prefer to do my business outdoors and have been consistent with my potty habits. I also know how to rest calmly in my kennel, showing that I can relax and adapt well to routine.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever   SPECIAL NOTES I’m a well-balanced, easygoing boy with a calm and cooperative nature that makes me a pleasure to be around. I have a great foundation—good leash manners, no food guarding, and the ability to settle nicely—which helps me transition smoothly into home life. While I may need a bit of time to settle and warm up in new environments, I promise the patience is worth it as my true personality shines through. I genuinely enjoy connection and time with my people. I may occasionally ask for attention with a small bark, but I’m able to regulate myself and settle quickly. I’m not overly demanding and have a solid “off switch,” which makes me a great balance of companionship and independence. I thrive with routine and consistency, and I’ve already shown that I can adapt well to structured environments like a kennel. With continued guidance and a stable, loving home, I’ll continue to grow into a reliable, low-maintenance companion who brings a calm, steady presence to everyday life.   DOONGCHI'S YOUTUBE PLAYLIST   Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.co ##2702661##
