My story

Meet Miss Toots — a 3‑year‑old, 9‑pound Chihuahua–Poodle mix with a heart full of love and the snuggle skills of a seasoned pro!   Quick Facts: Name: Miss Toots Breed: Chihuahua/Poodle Mix Age: 3 years old Weight: 9 lbs. House-Trained: 99% there! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested but likely fine Good with Kids: Not tested Energy Level: Low to medium Fence Required: Yes   About Miss Toots’ Breed: Our best guess is that Miss Toots is a Chihuahua and Poodle mixed breed. Chihuahua–Poodle mixes, often called Chi‑Poos, blend the best traits of both breeds: the Chihuahua’s loyalty and affection with the Poodle’s intelligence and charm. They’re typically small, people‑oriented dogs who love being close to their humans and often enjoy snuggling just as much as playtime. Their energy level can vary from low to moderate, but most Chi‑Poos appreciate short walks, mental enrichment, and plenty of lap time. Their coat may be low‑shedding like a Poodle’s, which can make grooming a regular part of their care.   Chi‑Poos thrive in homes where they get lots of companionship, gentle handling, and a predictable routine. They often do well with another friendly dog and enjoy having a buddy to play or cuddle with. Because they bond deeply with their people, they’re happiest in homes where someone is around often. A fenced yard is a bonus for safe exploring, though many do well with indoor play and daily walks. With love, structure, and a cozy lap to curl into, a Chi‑Poo becomes a devoted, affectionate, and wonderfully charming companion.   What to Love about Miss Toots: This beautiful little girl adores laps, presses her face to yours when she cuddles, and happily soaks up all the affection you’re willing to give. She loves treats, eats well, and has no aggression toward other dogs — though she’ll gently growl and walk away if she feels the need to protect her space. She transitioned easily into her foster home and has been a joy from day one!   Miss Toots is almost fully potty trained and does best with a consistent routine. She’s crate trained and sleeps happily in her crate at night, though she’d absolutely prefer to curl up in your bed if you’ll let her (hint, hint)! She has great house manners and can be left alone without a crate as well. She rides wonderfully in the car, enjoys her walks, and is doing great with her leash training. With her medium‑to‑low energy level, she’s mostly a snuggler with adorable little bursts of playfulness!   She loves every person she meets and would likely do well with respectful children, though she hasn’t met any yet. Miss Toots is wonderful with other dogs and would love to have a doggie companion in her forever home. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet. Her ideal home is one where someone is home most of the time, with another friendly dog to play with and a fenced yard for safe exploring and zoomies.   Sweet, affectionate, and full of charm, Miss Toots is ready to find her perfect family — apply to meet her today!   Miss Toots’ Tantalizing Highlights: 3‑year‑old, 9 lb Chihuahua–Poodle mix Total snuggle bug who loves laps and presses her face to yours Medium‑to‑low energy with adorable playful spurts Loves treats and eats well Wonderful with all dogs; uses gentle growls and space‑giving when needed Ideal home: someone home most of the time plus another friendly dog Would love a fenced yard for safe play but not a flight risk Crate trained and sleeps well in a crate, but would prefer your bed Great house manners and can be left alone uncrated Almost fully potty trained; thrives with a consistent routine Rides beautifully in the car Doing great with leash training and enjoys walks Loves everyone she meets; likely good with respectful kids Hasn’t met cats yet   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application.
