My story

DOB: September 20, 2020 Georgie is a gorgeous girl whose learning to trust. When she shows you that trust, it will mean everything. She came into foster care frightened of the world, and is leaving it a little less so. Her progress is something she should be proud of. Georgie eats well, and when she's alone and feels safe, she is entirely herself, confirmed through watching her on cameras. When humans are around she still feels unsure, and will usually opt to hide out in a safe place. She has begun to voluntarily move to the centre of the room and hold eye contact with her foster caregiver, which is something she didn't do before. She is a frightened cat, not an aggressive one. In all her time in foster care, she has never swiped or bitten. Following dental surgery in March, Georgie is on a wet food only diet, but a slow gentle introduction to kibble is definitely in her future. She has a fondness for Churu treats, which have proven useful for building connection (but make sure she doesn't have too much or she won't eat her dinner!) Georgie is looking for a quiet home with someone who has loved a fearful cat before. Someone who knows that patience is not waiting, it is showing up, every day, until Georgie realizes that the world is safe and that there are people who want to show her every ounce of love she deserves. Special note from Georgie's foster family: We have had a front-row seat to Georgie's journey and we believe in her. She is not an aggressive cat, she is a frightened one, and there is an important difference. With consistency, patience, and a calm environment, we have seen her begin to open up. She deserves the chance to finish that journey in her forever home.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Georgie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
