My story

Cowboy is a 6-month-old Border Collie/Heeler mix (our best guess) - an adorable, albeit long haired, combo. He’s certainly eye catching and has already been spotted making the rounds at local breweries. He’s a fun, active pup who’s ready for a lifetime of adventures. Overall, Cowboy has pretty good manners, though he’s still polishing up a few basics. His leash skills could use some work which is understandable given he was found as a stray in a rural SC county so likely had limited experience before learning in his foster home. He doesn’t love his crate especially if he knows you’re home but he tolerates it. We’d prefer a fenced in backyard so he can get his energy out more easily, though it’s not a requirement with the right routine. He has benefited from having a foster fur-sibling to learn the ropes from and play with. Cowboy is also still working on potty training. He does well when kept on a consistent schedule and doesn’t have accidents when taken out frequently, but he hasn’t learned to signal or go to the door just yet. This smart, busy boy is looking for an active home that understands the needs of a working-breed pup. He will thrive in a home willing to continue teaching him the basics and with people who enjoy providing plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Cowboy is UTD on age appropriate vaccines, kept on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. His neuter & microchip is scheduled for 4/20 which will be covered by the rescue. His adoption fee is $350. If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website and fill out an application. www.thefosterdoghouse.org/adopt

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cowboy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
