AGE: 2 YearsSEX: MaleBREED: Shepherd MixENERGY LEVEL: HighDOG FRIENDLY: Yep!CAT FRIENDLY?: Yep!KID FRIENDLY?: NoMeet Charlie! This handsome boy is a playful, curious, and sweet-natured guy with a big personality to match. He loves spending time outdoors and would be happiest in a home with a backyard where he can explore and stretch his legs. Charlie enjoys his toys and even knows the word “toy!” He’s very food motivated and isn’t picky at all, happily enjoying treats of all kinds (including cucumbers and broccoli stalks!). While he’s not overly snuggly, he does seek out affection and enjoys pets and attention from his people.Charlie has lived in a home with both dogs and a cat and has done well with them. He’s a confident dog who communicates clearly - he’ll let you know when he wants attention or is ready for a walk, and he isn’t shy about using his voice. He can be a bit timid when meeting new people and isn’t overly interested in strangers at first, but he is a friendly guy underneath it all, even if his big bark says otherwise. He does well when left home alone, even outside of the crate, and while he doesn’t love being confined, he will go into his crate on his own when he wants some downtime. He already knows cues like sit, stay, and shake, and is currently working on skills like “stay” and “find.” Charlie is eager to learn and enjoys training, especially when treats are involved. On walks, Charlie can get excited and tends to pull, especially when he sees other dogs, which may also lead to barking. His foster is currently working with a trainer on this, and continued support will help him build calmer leash skills. He also has prey drive toward small animals and may bark at people or dogs he sees out the window. Charlie can be a bit sensitive to handling (such as paw wiping or vet visits), so continued positive experiences will help him build confidence in these areas. He would do best in a home without children where he can feel secure and understood. Charlie is looking for an experienced handler, ideally someone familiar with the breed, who can continue to guide his training and help him thrive. With the right guidance, patience, and structure, Charlie will thrive as a loyal, engaging companion for someone ready to match his energy and continue helping him grow.Think you might be the right fit to provide a loving home for Charlie?
