My story

*Note: Roy is currently in Korea, but he will arrive in Toronto on April 21.For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click the link.BackgroundRoy was rescued from a puppy mill in Gimpo in December 2025. After his rescue, he moved to our partner boarding home, where he now lives with other dogs. For the first time in his life, Roy is in a safe place where he is cared for.Personality and SocializationRoy is a gentle and sweet Poodle with a calm, medium energy level that makes him an easy companion in many types of homes. He loves being close to his people and will happily curl up on your lap, soaking in every bit of affection. When meeting new people, Roy can be a little shy at first. But he doesn’t take long to warm up. With just a bit of patience and kindness, he quickly begins to trust, and that’s when his true personality shines. His soft, loving nature comes through in the way he leans in for pets and stays close by your side. With other dogs, Roy is very friendly and enjoys their company. He feels most at ease around small dogs and would benefit from having a gentle companion to spend time with. He has no experience with cats or young children.BehaviourRoy rides well in the car and usually rests quietly during the trip. He is cooperative at the vet and handles baths and grooming without any trouble. He is still new to leash walking and is currently comfortable using pee pads indoors. Roy is learning about the world at his own pace and continues to grow in confidence each day.Health and DietRoy is healthy and has received full veterinary care. He is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, dewormed, and receives regular parasite prevention. He has a few missing front teeth, but his dental work, including scaling, has been completed, and he is doing well. He currently eats dry kibble twice a day and has shown no signs of allergies.Ideal HomeRoy would do best in a home with someone who works from home and can spend plenty of time with him. He would benefit from someone who understands small dogs and can gently guide him as he builds confidence. A home with another small, friendly dog would be ideal, as he would enjoy the companionship and learn through play. With patience and care, Roy will continue to grow into a happy and confident companion.*Note: Roy is currently in Korea, but he will arrive in Toronto on April 21.For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click the link.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Roy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
