My story

Sakura’s name means “cherry blossom” in Japanese - and it suits her perfectly. She’s a very beautiful girl! Sakura came to us from the county shelter, where she had been placed on the euthanasia list after multiple returned adoptions. With mixed feedback from previous adopters, we knew she deserved the chance to decompress in a foster home and truly show us who she is. Sakura loved moving from the shelter to a foster home. She’s a well-mannered dog and thrived on routine with her fosters. She enjoys a good game of fetch and happily curls up beside her person with her head in your lap! She is so sweet with people! Her foster described her as highly intelligent, low-maintenance, and funny! Sakura did not have any issue with destructive behavior in the home and she kenneled easily, even choosing to go into her kennel on her own throughout the day. Unfortunately, after about a month in her foster home, we had to realize that she was may just need to be an only dog - that's the biggest downside to this girl unfortunately. The fosters said that she did not do well with their female husky, but seemed indifferent to their 100+lb male german shepherd. Shelter notes were also mixed on her past interactions with other dogs. Because she has been the instigator and the one to start fights in these instances, we would be concerned trying to place her with other dogs. Because of this, Sakura had to be moved to boarding. She is currently seeking a foster as well as an adopter! Sakura has a prey drive for small animals and absolutely cannot be in a home with small cats or dogs. This girl just absolutely adores humans - including kids. She did well with young kids in her foster home, away from other dogs, and really just wants to soak up all the love and attention from humans herself. She could do well in either a calm or busy household, as long as she’s with people- she’s happiest by your side. Like a cherry blossom in bloom, Sakura is ready to flourish in a loving home of her own! Please fill out an app to meet this girl, or help us get her out of boarding! https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sakura, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
