QUICK FACTS Name: Marta Age: 3 years old Gender: Female (Spaying to be scheduled) Breed: Terrier mix Color: White Weight: 15kg / 33lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I was rescued from the euthanasia list at a crowded city pound, where my future became uncertain simply because there was no more space. Before that, I gave birth to five beautiful puppies, and thankfully every one of them found loving homes of their own. After watching my puppies leave for their new families, I waited and hoped that someone would come for me too. But as time passed, no one did, and I eventually ended up on the euthanasia list myself. Thankfully, kind rescuers stepped in just in time and gave me a second chance at life. Now, I’m finally safe and ready to leave those painful memories behind as I search for a forever family who will love and cherish me the way I deserve.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY Volunteers and staff often say I look like a little model. I have long legs and even walk with graceful little strides like I’m on a runway. Along with my elegant look, I have the sweetest personality and the cutest terrier-like face that people instantly fall in love with. I can be shy at first and need a little time to warm up, but once I do, I become deeply attached and love following my person around. I form strong bonds and have a very gentle, loving nature. I’m also incredibly kind and nurturing. While I was at the city pound, I gave birth to five puppies and cared for them the best I could. I even helped nurture puppies who had no mother of their own, taking them under my wing with so much care and patience. Even though I may seem reserved in the beginning, I’m still a curious girl who happily takes treats and slowly opens up. During my profile photoshoot, I did wonderfully, accepted treats, and soaked up all the love and affection from the volunteers and staff.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I can be shy at first, but I warm up with patience, treats, and gentle kindness. I prefer not to be pet right away and appreciate being given a little space to get comfortable at my own pace. I also tend to open up more easily with women than men in the beginning. Once I feel safe and start to trust you, my sweet side really comes out. I allow myself to be picked up and love to show my belly as a sign that I feel comfortable and secure with you. · With Dogs: I like to greet new dogs, but I don’t jump into play right away. I prefer to take my time, observe my surroundings, and do my own thing before fully opening up. I tend to get along best with smaller dogs, and I especially have a soft spot for puppies. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to ensure the best fit.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy spending time outdoors, going for walks, and exploring, and once I’ve had my activity, I’m more than happy to settle down and enjoy a cozy nap afterward.   TRAINING & HABITS I can pull on leash a bit at the beginning of walks because I get excited, but once I settle in, I enjoy calm and relaxed walks by your side. Although I may be shy with strangers at first, I warm up with patience and kindness, and before long I’ll come over looking for affection, cuddles, and companionship. Overall, I’m a quiet and gentle girl with a soft nature. I have good manners around food with people, though I can be a bit sensitive if other dogs come too close during mealtimes. I may bark occasionally when I’m looking for attention, but I settle down quickly once reassured. I know how to rest calmly in my kennel and relax well when it’s time to wind down. I’m also comfortable using both indoor potty areas and going potty outside.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever • Understanding of my past and willing to be patient while I come out of my shell   SPECIAL NOTES I’m a gentle and sensitive girl with a lot of love to give once I feel safe and comfortable. While I may seem shy at first, I truly want connection and companionship, and with a little patience, my affectionate and loyal personality shines through beautifully. Volunteers and staff often describe me as calm, sweet, and incredibly kind-hearted. I form deep bonds with the people I trust and love staying close once I open up. I’m the type of companion who brings a peaceful, comforting presence into the home. I’ve already shown how resilient and adaptable I can be despite my difficult past.
