My story

Mac is an 13 pound, 11-year-old Shih Tzu/Yorkie Mix with the softest fur. His mama went into the hospital and left Mac in the care of her best friend. Hismama’s last words were “Thank God Vivian has Mac.” His mama loved him until her last breath. Unfortunately, Vivian could not keep Mac, so she reached out to a local shelter in San Marcos, TX. One of the Animal Control Officers is good friends with one of CAMO’s fosters, so Mac bypassed a shelter and into a loving home in San Antonio where he is fitting in wonderfully with his foster brothers and sisters. Mac was loved and spoiled by his mama. He is a very friendly outgoing dog that just wants to be next to his person. The first night in his foster home, he was put in a crate to sleep. He wasn’t having any of that. He found his spot at the foot of the bed and that is where he has been ever since. He is out with the other dogs during the workday and enjoys being outside. He does pull on the leash so a harness would be best, so he doesn’t choke himself or cause collapsing trachea. He has not had any accidents in the house but wears a belly band while his family is at work. Mac was matted on his belly and back legs. Brushing through the mats was too painful, so some of his fur had to be shaved and was very cooperative. Mac has the cutest little face and ears; he also needed a bang trim so he could see better. He does have cataracts but seems to see just fine. The rest of his body is fluffy and has the signature curly Shih Tzu tail. He was a champ in the bath and dried very quickly in the warm Texas weather. Mac likes to play with the other dogs; however, it is unknown how he is with kids or cats. He has such a sweet demeanor; I would tend to believe he would get along with them as well. The only two times he barked was when he was in the crate and wanted out and when he wanted up on a lap. He’s a sweet boy that deserves to spend the rest of his golden years with his person. Mac is up to date on all his vaccinations, has Proheart 12 (12 month heartworm prevention), Bravecto (3 month flea and tick prevention),microchipped and neutered. Adoption fee $200 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mac Alexander, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
