An Old Soul Looking For His Forever Sidekick Sometimes The Best Chapters Start In The Middle Hi, I'm Creedie. I'm somewhere around five or six years old, though if you ask me, age is really just a suggestion. The rescue thinks I came from a breeder situation, and somewhere along the way another family tried to help before life took a turn and I eventually found my way to Freedom Frenchie Rescue. The details before that are a little fuzzy, and honestly, I'm okay with that. Everybody has a past. Mine just happens to have a few missing pages. Around here, they like to say my real story started the day I arrived in rescue, and I think they're probably right. These days, I've learned that life doesn't have to be complicated. Good people, a comfortable place to sleep, a full belly, and someone to share the journey with seems like a pretty solid arrangement. Always By Your Side I don't need to be the center of attention. I just enjoy knowing what's going on. For reasons nobody has fully figured out, I prefer walking on your right side. Maybe it's instinct, maybe it's habit, or maybe I've simply decided that's the proper place for a loyal sidekick to be. Whatever the reason, that's where you'll usually find me. If you're cooking dinner, I'll supervise from a respectful distance. If you're working from home, I'll settle down near your desk. If you're moving from room to room, I'll quietly follow along to make sure quality control standards are being maintained. Somebody has to keep an eye on things, and I've decided that responsibility belongs to me. I don't ask for constant attention or endless entertainment. I just like being near my people and being included in everyday life. Truthfully, I think the ordinary moments are usually the best ones anyway. Life Looks Better Through A Car Window I absolutely love car rides. Give me an open window and a front-row seat to the world, and I'm perfectly content. In fact, I've even learned how to roll my own window down, so don't mistake my calm personality for a lack of intelligence. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve when necessary. I'm the kind of dog who's happy doing just about anything as long as we're doing it together. A dog-friendly patio for pizza sounds wonderful. A stroll through downtown? Count me in. A camping trip under the stars? Absolutely. Spending the afternoon relaxing on the couch? Honestly, that's pretty hard to beat too. I also happen to enjoy the Arizona sunshine and spending time near the pool. If water splashes my direction, there's a very good chance I'll try to catch it. Foster mom laughs every time because apparently I take my responsibilities as Chief Water Inspector very seriously. The Best Kind Of Wingman Life has taught me that good company makes everything better. I get along beautifully with other dogs and genuinely enjoy being part of a pack. If another dog is full of puppy energy and bouncing off the walls, I simply let them do their thing. I don't overreact, I don't create problems, and I certainly don't go looking for trouble. I'm happy to play when the mood strikes, share my toys, share my space, and appreciate having friends around. We haven't seen any resource guarding with food, toys, or bones because, in my opinion, there's enough good stuff to go around for everyone. Whether you already have a house full of four-legged companions or you're looking for one perfect dog to complete your family, I think I'd fit in just fine. I've never really felt the need to be the loudest personality in the room. I'm perfectly comfortable simply being part of the team. Quietly Watching The World Go By People sometimes mistake my calm nature for being protective. The truth is, I'm mostly just observant. I like to know who's walking down the street, which delivery driver is bringing packages, and whether that squirrel outside is getting a little too comfortable with his current level of confidence. I enjoy sitting back and taking everything in because the world is an interesting place when you slow down enough to notice it. I'm not interested in creating enemies or acting like some intimidating guard dog. I'd much rather make friends and welcome people into my life. Still, every household needs someone paying attention, and I've naturally taken on the role of neighborhood observer. You could say I'm less security guard and more local historian. Food Deserves Respect Let's have an honest conversation about food. When I first arrived in rescue, I was much too skinny and needed some extra groceries. Since then, I've gained four healthy pounds and undergone a dental procedure where six teeth had to be removed. Truthfully, some of those teeth weren't contributing much to society anymore, so retirement was probably the right choice. These days my meals are softened, which makes eating far more enjoyable and comfortable. I take my time, appreciate every bite, and prefer dining separately so I can focus on the experience without unnecessary interruptions. I am very food motivated, and we're continuing to work on boundaries around unattended snacks. Foster mom calls it stealing. Personally, I think if food is left unsupervised, it sends a mixed message about ownership. Nevertheless, I'm learning that not every sandwich on the counter is an open invitation. Growth is important at every age. Play Hard, Rest Harder When it's time to play, I fully commit to the assignment. I love toys, enjoy chewing on bones, appreciate a good game of fetch, and never turn down an opportunity for tug-of-war. If I'd like someone to join me, I'll happily use my funny little Frenchie voice to make my feelings known. The rescue thinks I'll become a fairly chatty fellow once I settle into my forever home, and I suspect they're absolutely correct. I've already learned commands like sit, shake, leave it, and come, and I'm currently working on stay and down. Sometimes I take a moment before responding because I prefer to think things through. Foster mom calls it stubbornness, but I prefer to think of it as careful consideration. Every old cowboy deserves a second to process the situation before making important decisions. A Gentleman Through And Through One thing I take a lot of pride in is my manners. I'm house-trained, understand how to use a doggy door, and haven't had accidents or marked inside the house. I walk nicely on a leash, tolerate baths with quiet dignity, and generally make myself pretty easy to live with. The truth is, I don't need much to be happy. I enjoy being included in whatever my family is doing, whether that's running errands, relaxing at home, or heading off on some new adventure. Life is good when you're surrounded by people who care about you, and I intend to appreciate every bit of it. The Kind Of Dog You'll Never Forget I've got goofy eyes, a crooked little smile, and a tiny Frenchie whine that has a remarkable ability to work its way directly into people's hearts. I'm not the loudest dog in the room, and I've never really wanted to be. I'd rather sit beside you while everyone else is trying too hard. There's something to be said for quiet loyalty, steady companionship, and simply showing up every single day for the people you love. If you've been looking for a best friend who's happy to ride shotgun through life's adventures, supervise dinner preparation, watch sunsets by the pool, and remind you that the simple things are usually the most important, then maybe we've both been searching for the same thing all along. After a few unexpected turns, I finally found my way to a second chance. I have a feeling my forever family is somewhere just up the road, and when we find each other, the rest of the story is going to be pretty good. Love, Creedie 🖤 *Please Note: All learning and guidance must continue in their new home. A dog’s behavior can change with a new environment and energy, and every family’s dynamic is different. What works or is allowed in one foster home may not be the same in yours, so consistency, patience, and continued training are key to their success.
