My story

Hi there! My name is Ginger, and I’m looking for a loving forever home where I can finally feel safe, happy, and cherished. I’m only a couple of years old, so I still have lots of puppy energy, lots of love to give, and lots of life ahead of me. I may have had a rough start, but I’m ready to leave that behind and begin a brand-new chapter with a family who will truly care for me. I came into animal control when my previous owners could no longer take proper care of me. When I arrived, I was in pretty bad shape. I was covered in fleas, had a belly full of tapeworms, and my coat was so matted that it had to be shaved down just to make me comfortable again. It wasn’t the easiest thing to go through, but everyone here has been helping me feel so much better. The fleas are gone, the tapeworms are finally gone after multiple treatments, and I’m starting to put weight back on because I was far too skinny before. I feel better every single day. My coat still needs a little help from a professional groomer to even everything out and make me beautiful again, but that may be happening very soon. Once that’s done, everyone says I’m going to shine. Even now, though, I’m already feeling much more comfortable in my own skin. I’m learning what it feels like to be cared for, and I have to say—I really like it! When I was found, I had another puppy with me who was supposed to be mine, but honestly, he looked nothing like me, so there’s still a bit of a mystery there. One thing we do know for sure is that I’ve now been spayed, so there will be no more surprise puppies in my future. I’m also current on my vaccinations and have been microchipped, so I’m all set and ready to go home with the right person or family. Now, I should probably tell you a little about my personality. I really love being around my people. In fact, I’m not much of a fan of being left out when everyone else is hanging out together. I can be a bit of an escape artist, too—if there’s a gap big enough for me to squeeze through, I just might do it so I can come find you. I’m not trying to be naughty; I just really want to be where the people are! Because of that, I’ll do best with someone who can keep a close eye on me and make sure I have a secure yard or supervised outdoor time. I still have a lot of puppy energy, so I would love a home where I can play, go on walks, and keep learning. My previous people didn’t do much training with me, which is no surprise considering the condition I was in, so I could definitely use some help brushing up on my leash skills and basic manners. The good news is that I’m young, eager, and ready to learn. With patience, kindness, and consistency, I know I can grow into an amazing companion. What I want most is a family who will see past where I came from and focus on where I’m going. I want soft places to rest, people to love, and a home where I’ll never be neglected again. If you think you might be the forever home I’ve been waiting for, I would love to meet you. To set up an appointment, please email mike@caaronline.org. I’m healthy, hopeful, and ready to start my next adventure—maybe with you.   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
