Meet Comet! This handsome guy may take a little time to warm up to new people, but with some patience, kindness, and a few tasty treats, he quickly becomes a loyal best friend. Comet loves getting out for walks and exploring the world around him, but he`s just as happy curling next to his favorite humans. With his happy-go-lucky personality and affectionate personality, Comet is the perfect mix of adventure buddy and snuggle bug. Whether you`re looking for a dog to join you on outings or a loving friend to relax with at home, Comet could be the dog for you. If you`re interested in welcoming Comet into your family, please fill out an application or come visit him at the Kitchener Centre!IN-SHELTER NOTES & IDEAL HOMESIZE:55 lbsHOME TYPE:No large or busy apartments due to being vocal and can be shy/timid.CHILDREN:Yes- Younger children with large dog experience potentially compatibleCATS & SMALL ANIMALS:Yes- Cats potentially compatible with slow introduction.OTHER DOGS:Yes- Dogs potentially compatible.ACTIVITY/ENERGY LEVEL:High- Will need a lot of daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation.HUMAN COMPATIBILTY:First time dog owner possible. But his new family should be ready and committed to working on socializing him to the world around him.TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/NEEDS:At least one in person training sessions to work on basic manners, socialization, and separation/general anxiety.HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER:Loves being with humans and getting affection, very human social and does not do well being left alone.FAVOURITE THINGS:Treats, training time/learning, and doggy playdatesFOSTER AND FIELD TRIP INSIDER INFO: (please note that dogs may behave different in foster`s care than adopter`s care and the following cannot be guaranteed)HOUSE TRAINING:Unknown at this time.CAR MANNERS:He can be anxious during car rides because he wants to be close to his favourite human. He`ll need help getting in and out of the vehicle, and a seatbelt or other secure restraint is recommended to keep him safe while traveling.LEASH MANNERS / ON WALK MANNERS:Comet walks well on a leash and loves to explore, stopping to sniff everything along the way. He is highly food-motivated, making him eager to learn and very responsive to training and commands.CRATE TRAINING:Unknown at this time.KNOWN TRAIN
