My story

Millie is the kind of dog who reminds you that healing takes time—and that some souls are worth every ounce of patience. Before coming into rescue, Millie survived on her own beneath a gas station dumpster. She had been living there for quite some time before anyone was finally able to bring her to safety. Life had taught her that people weren't always kind, and trust wasn't something she could afford to give easily. Today, Millie is safe, and little by little, she's learning what it means to be loved. She is a gentle, sweet girl with a soft spirit. While she can be very shut down and cautious, there is a quiet kindness about her that shines through. Every day, she takes small steps forward as she discovers that hands can offer comfort, voices can be gentle, and people can be trusted. Millie's ideal home will be calm, patient, and understanding. She doesn't need a busy household or grand adventures—she simply needs someone willing to meet her where she is and let her move at her own pace. The greatest gift you can give Millie is time. She enjoys going for walks and has previously lived with a cat, remaining neutral and respectful. Most of all, she is looking for a person who sees past her fear and understands the incredible courage it takes for her to keep trying. Millie has spent much of her life without a reason to trust people. Now, she deserves the chance to learn what it feels like to belong. If you have a quiet home, a patient heart, and room for a dog who is still discovering that the world can be a safe place, Millie may be waiting for you.
