Currently fostered in Texas Rosie is approximately five - seven years old and weighs 8.6 pounds. She is extremely shy, tinted and submissive. Rosie is very sweet and needs a calm, gentle home. Rosie has had a very traumatic life up until coming to Rescue. She was rescued in del Rio Texas after being found as a stray. She was pregnant , dying outside on the street when AARC , an animal advocacy group in del Rio , came to her Rescue. All her babies had died inside and now Rosie was dying due to the trauma and infection inside her. She had an emergency c-section and spay, and a dental cleaning. Rosie was luckily and surprisingly heartworm negative . Rosie is now completely healed from her physical trauma, but now begins the emotional trauma of her life. She is the most gentle loving dog, but she is extremely shy, and she needs a very patient quiet calm, loving home to help her grow, learn to socialize, and teach her some confidence.. Rosie does not have a mean bone in her body. She is not aggressive and she is not feral. She just needs time and a lot of love and patience. Rosie is not ready to walk on a leash and harness so a fenced in yard is necessary at this time. But I know in time she will learn and once she bonds with her people she will blossom. She is a good eater and has a good appetite but will not eat when you are watching her, she needs a safe space in the home that can be her quiet area. Rosie would do fine with well mannered dog savvy children, but due to her very quiet demeanor I do not think she would want to live with toddlers 24 seven . But I am sure, young children coming to visit would be fine . She is great with all other dogs. Rosie deserves the family she never thought she would have, she deserves kindness and patience and love. She deserves all the soft blankets and good meals and to be in a world she feels safe and secure. She would do best in a home with other happy social dogs , we have seen here that is when she is her best self . She is a bit of a follower so a well adjusted friendly happy dog by her side will help her grow to become her best self. She needs a secured fenced yard and once leash and harness training starts she needs a well fitted escape proof harness, if she gets out she will run and you will not be able to catch her. This is only when she is scared and everything is new. Once she settles in, she knows she is home and she loves her people immensely and will not try to run away. Please give this lady the life of her dreams. Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given.
