My story

Spruce is a 4-year-old Shepherd mix with a big personality, boundless energy, and a heart full of potential. This active boy is looking for a home that can keep up with his enthusiasm for life while helping him learn the skills he needs to be the best companion possible.Spruce is a very high-energy dog who loves to be on the move. He can be excitable and currently lacks some basic manners, so he will benefit from continued training, consistency, and structure. He is strong, eager, and sometimes forgets his size when he's excited, but he is a smart dog who is capable of learning with patient guidance and positive reinforcement.Spruce is heartworm positive and will require treatment and follow-up care. Heartworm disease is treatable, and many dogs go on to live long, healthy lives after completing treatment. His adopter should be prepared to work closely with their veterinarian and follow activity restrictions during his recovery period.Because of his energy level and training needs, Spruce would do best with an active family that is committed to providing both physical exercise and mental stimulation.
