My story

Foster insights/story: Hucks story began in April 2025, when he and his two siblings were found as stray puppies in Antigua at just two months old. They were brought to a local sanctuary for safety, but life there was overwhelming for sensitive little Huck. He was often picked on by the other dogs and would retreat to the back of his pen, sitting quietly and scared.Somewhere along the way, Huck was hit by a car and suffered significant injuries. With limited medical resources available on the island, he was unable to get the care he urgently needed and continued to struggle. Thankfully, a compassionate volunteer noticed Huck at the sanctuary and reached out to us for help.Since arriving in Ontario, Huck has finally begun receiving the medical attention he deserves. Hes had a blood transfusion to treat anemia, had a front leg amputation and FHO surgery on his back leg.Despite everything hes endured, Huck remains incredibly friendly with both people and other dogs. At just one year old, he has experienced more pain and hardship than any dog ever should. Now, all Huck needs is a loving, committed home where he can leave the bullying and suffering behind and finally enjoy the happy, safe life hes always deserved. Spayed/Neutered: Not yetMedical Notes: treated for ehrlichia and anaplasma. He was hit by a car and his front leg had to be amputated and his back leg had FHO surgery doneNeck size (for collar):Height (from top of head):Length (from nose to base of tail):Crate size recommended: 36 inchGood with adults: yesGood with kids: yesGood with other dogs: yes, loves playing with other dogsGood with cats: YesHouse trained: yesCrate trained: yesEnergy level: mediumCan be handled/touched: yesBarker: noFlight risk: no, he can't move very much right nowFood aggressive: not noticedWalks on leash: yesRides well in car: yesDestructive: he can be if he's bored (he'll chew things)Needs a home with a yard: not necessarily, as long as he receives proper exerciseNeeds a home with another dog: not necessarilyCan live in an apartment: yes Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
