My story

Ren is a handsome Labrador Retriever/Bulldog mix who has already experienced more stress than any dog should. He found himself in a shelter in Manitoba, and the loud, unfamiliar environment was overwhelming for him. Like many sensitive dogs, Ren struggled there, not because of who he is, but because shelter life simply was not where he could thrive. Now safely in foster care, Ren is finally able to decompress. In a calm, structured environment, he has shown himself to be a happy, loyal, and affectionate companion. Once he trusts you, Ren forms strong bonds and enjoys being close to his people. Ren is house trained, and rides well in the car. He has a medium energy level and enjoys a predictable routine. He walks well on leash, and generally only barks to alert his family to something unusual. Ren gets along with other dogs when introductions are done slowly and thoughtfully. He is good with children and women, and while he can be selective with men at first, he warms up with patience and positive experiences. A home with a secure yard would suit Ren best, giving him the space he enjoys to relax and decompress. He would do best with an experienced, confident adopter who can provide structure, clear guidance, and consistency. Ren also has a significant chicken allergy and is currently doing well on a fish based diet. Ren will be a devoted companion and would benefit from continued confidence building and consistent leadership as he settles into his forever home. If you are looking for a steady, affectionate companion and understand the importance of patience, guidance, and routine, Ren is ready to give his whole heart to the right family.
