My story

Rudy is a sweet, loving boy who adores snuggles, adventures, and being part of the action. This handsome Shepherd mix has a heart of gold and will happily soak up all the attention you're willing to give. Whether he's exploring a new trail, practicing his training skills, or curling up beside you on the couch, Rudy is happiest when he's with his people. Rudy is doing incredibly well in foster care and continues to make great progress every day. He is highly treat-motivated and loves to learn, making training both fun and rewarding. He's currently working on his sit and stay commands, improving his listening skills, and enjoying outings to places like beaches where he can experience new sights and sounds. His barking has decreased significantly as his confidence has grown, and he continues to become a more well-rounded companion. This affectionate guy is a big cuddler who absolutely loves attention. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends, but he would also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home where he can soak up all the love for himself. He is good with children and does well with dog-savvy cats. Rudy is fully house-trained and crate-trained. He prefers a wire mesh crate where he can see what's going on around him and settle comfortably. He walks well on leash, is not reactive to people or dogs, and has shown himself to be a loyal and trustworthy companion. In fact, when his collar accidentally broke during a walk, Rudy calmly returned to his foster rather than running off. With his medium-to-high energy level, Rudy would thrive in an active home with a yard where he can play, explore, and burn off energy. He would make an excellent hiking partner, adventure buddy, or even a wonderful farm dog. The best part? Once he's had his exercise, he's ready to relax and recharge with a well-earned nap. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will make you laugh, join you on adventures, and shower you with affection, Rudy may be the perfect addition to your family.Good with women: yesGood with men: yesGood with kids: yesGood with other dogs: yesGood with cats: yes, dog savvy catsHouse trained: yesCrate trained: yes, prefers a wire mesh crate where he can see his surroundingsEnergy level: medium-high - Rudy loves adventures, walks, training and playtime, but once he's had enough activity, he's happy to settle down for a nap and some cuddle time. Can be handled/touched: yesFlight risk: noFood aggressive: noCurrent food: Walks on leash: yesLeash reactive to people or dogs: noRides well in car: no exposureDestructive: noNeeds a home with a yard: yesNeeds a home with another dog: noCan live in an apartment: no Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
