Im 6 years old, and Im ready for a brand-new chapter. For a long time, life was very hard. I spent years on a heavy chain, losing weight and feeling so hungry that I did things Im not proud of just to fill my belly. My only comfort was a neighbourhood girl who would visit and bring bags of food for me and my friends. When she didn't come for a while, I felt so lost. One freezing night, huddled on a dirty wet blanket in my dog house, I realized my owners hadn't been home in days. I wondered why I was the one left behind. But then, I heard a familiar voiceit was that neighbor girl! She reached down, attached a leash, and told me I was "going home." Taking that heavy chain off my neck was the best feeling in the world. Shes my foster mom now, and shes making sure I never feel that weight or that hunger ever again.Life is much better now that Im inside where it's warm. Im eating three or four meals a day, and my foster mom says Im finally becoming a "chunky monkey!" Because I was starved for so long, I do get a little grumpy about sharing my food, so I prefer to eat safely in my crate. At heart, Im just a big, lazy couch potato. Im happy to have dog friends around as long as they don't jump on me; I really value my personal space. Im still working on my leash manners because I get so excited to see the world off of that chain that I tend to pull, but Im just happy to be moving.Im still learning how to accept love and affection. After so long without a kind touch, Im a little shy and don't want to get my hopes up too high. My foster mom says Im a "really good girl" and just need a patient family who understands my past. Ive spent half my life waitingI really hope I can find a family to call my own soon.
