My story

Honey: came to us from a Mennonite puppy mill  Honey is a gentle, affectionate little companion looking for a home where she can be close to her people. She may take time to warm up, but once she loves you, she becomes a true Velcro dog.  She will follow you everywhere, happily snoozing beside you while you work, and always ready for cuddles, belly rubs, and couch time. She has never shown any aggression, and quickly bonds with her person.  Honey has been around children aged 9+ and does well with them. She has shown little interest in other dogs and peacefully coexists with them, although she can become jealous when attention is given to another dog and may try to squeeze herself into the spotlight. She has also been around cats, squirrels, and rabbits without showing any prey drive. She enjoys walks and is making progress with her leash manners, though she still needs continued training. Honey is smart, food-motivated, and has already learned “sit.” She loves treats, especially cheese, and because she only has seven teeth left, her kibble is softened with water.  Like many mill dogs, Honey can become anxious in various new and different scenarios. She struggled with nighttime pacing and panting when she first arrived and is most comfortable sleeping in bed with her people. She is not a fan of crates, dislikes car rides, and can be nervous around cars in general. Her adopter should be prepared to continue building her confidence and making sure she feel safe through positive reinforcement and enrichment, to help her feel secure.  Honey is mostly housetrained and does best on a consistent bathroom schedule, as she doesn't reliably signal when she needs to go outside. Occasional accidents can happen if her routine changes. Pee pads are available Honey is not destructive and enjoys her stuffies and chew toys. She may bark when excited or join in if another dog starts barking. She is a self appointed household logistics coordinator, and will adorably relocate laundry around the house like many mill dogs do. Honey will thrive with someone looking for a devoted, loving companion who wants to be part of every moment of their day. In return, she'll provide endless affection, loyalty, and plenty of laughs.  June 13, 2026, 12:59 pm
