My story

Meet Phineas & Ferb – The Dynamic Duo You Didn’t Know You Needed Hi! We’re Phineas and Ferb, two low-riding exotic bully brothers looking for one forever home. Yep, we’re a package deal, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m Phineas, the older brother, estimated to be around 4–5 years old. I’m Ferb, the younger brother, estimated to be around 3 years old. People call us goofy, but we’d rather think of ourselves as smart and smarter. We spend our days wagging our tails, avoiding drama, hanging out with our dog friends, collecting toys, going for walks, soaking up the sunshine, and dreaming about the family we’ll never have to leave. Brothers Before Everything Our story began at the Los Angeles Animal Shelter after we were surrendered. The rescue only had enough room to bring one of us home that first day, but they promised they would come back for the other the very next morning. That first evening, Ferb wouldn’t move. He didn’t want to explore the yard or even go potty. He just sat quietly, staring into the distance while Mo sat beside him without saying much, giving him the space he needed. As she watched him, a single tear slowly rolled through the wrinkles on his face and fell to the ground. She gently told him, “We’re coming back for your brother tomorrow. Please don’t worry.” The next day, they kept that promise. When they arrived with Phineas, they purposely left him in his crate and brought Ferb around first. The second Ferb realized who was inside, he knew instantly. If you haven’t watched our reunion reel, we highly recommend it because it says more than words ever could. Ferb couldn’t wait to get his brother out of that crate so he could cover him in kisses and welcome him back. That reunion reminded everyone that we weren’t simply two dogs who came from the same shelter—we were brothers who belonged together. Different Personalities, One Incredible Team Even though we’re brothers, our personalities are a little different. Phineas is confident, curious, and completely obsessed with toys. Give him a ball, a stuffed toy, or just about anything he can carry around, and he’s perfectly content entertaining himself. Ferb is the quieter, more thoughtful brother. He likes to make sure everyone is okay, especially Phineas. As he’s become more comfortable in foster care, his confidence has grown tremendously, and his playful personality shines a little brighter every day. The longer we’ve been together in foster care, the more obvious our bond has become. Phineas now lets Ferb take toys from him, something that didn’t happen in the beginning. We check on each other throughout the day, and it’s not uncommon to find us choosing the same crate just so we can nap together, even when other crates are available. Being brothers is simply our favorite thing. Our Second Chance When we arrived at the rescue, we were severely underweight and medically neglected. Getting healthy has taken time, patience, and consistency, but every week we’re looking and feeling better. We each eat 2½ cups of food every day—2 cups in the morning and another half cup in the afternoon—and we’re finally starting to fill out. Ferb’s fur has grown back beautifully on his tail and the small patch on his leg. Phineas has had a more stubborn road to recovery. He developed a fungal skin infection on the backs of his legs that required several weeks of antibiotics along with simple daily cleaning using antibacterial soap and water. Regular baths and consistency have made a huge difference, and his skin continues to improve. His ears are still working on growing their fur back, but healing takes time, and we’re in no rush. Life Is Better With Toys If there is one thing everyone should know about us, it’s that we absolutely love toys. Phineas is especially enthusiastic. Balls are his favorite, but he’ll happily play with just about anything. He proudly carries his toys everywhere, tosses them around the yard, and even suckles on them until they’re soaking wet with slobber. Because he enjoys his toys so much, his future family will need to keep an eye on them. He’s swallowed pieces before, and thankfully everything passed safely, but durable toys and supervision will always be important. Ferb wasn’t very interested in toys when he first arrived. Looking back, it’s hard not to wonder if he simply never had the chance to enjoy them before. Today, he happily joins his brother running around the yard collecting toys, and he especially enjoys cooling off in the baby pool or standing in the sprinkler on warm days. Still Learning Every Day We’re both doing really well with potty training. Phineas no longer has accidents in his crate, which has been a huge accomplishment. Ferb is doing wonderfully too, but he thrives on routine. As long as he’s given regular potty breaks and has time to adjust to your schedule, he continues to improve every day. We should also confess one habit we’re still working on. Sometimes we snack on poop. It’s not exactly something we’re proud of, but after spending much of our lives confined to crates while being underfed, old survival habits don’t disappear overnight. Thankfully, those habits continue to fade as we learn that food arrives every single day and we’ll never have to wonder where our next meal is coming from again. More Than Our Breed People hear the words “Exotic Bully” and immediately make assumptions about us, but we hope you’ll get to know us before making any judgments. We’re gentle, affectionate, incredibly social, and happiest when we’re surrounded by people and other dogs. We aren’t interested in conflict or proving anything to anyone. We’d much rather spend our days playing with toys, going for walks, lounging around the house, soaking up the sun, and cuddling with the people we love. Looking for the Family That Says “Yes” to Both of Us We know asking someone to adopt two dogs instead of one is a big request, but after everything we’ve experienced together, we simply can’t imagine life apart. We’ve already lost enough. We don’t want to lose each other too. The right family is out there, and we’ll patiently wait for them because we know they’re worth waiting for. They won’t just be adopting two dogs—they’ll be preserving a bond that’s impossible to put into words. They’ll get twice the laughter, twice the personalities, twice the cuddles, and the privilege of watching two brothers continue growing old together.
