Luna

My story

Luna’s story is one of quiet resilience and unimaginable strength. Found on the border of Mexico alongside Sol, she was emaciated, terrified, and simply trying to survive. We believe Luna is Sol’s mama, and it’s clear she did everything she could to protect her, even in her weakest moments. She arrived with an abrasion on her head, and we later learned the heartbreaking truth, while starving, Luna had tried to eat a chicken from a nearby property and was struck on the head with a shovel. When Luna came into our care, her body told the story of neglect: mange, parasites, ticks, and severe malnourishment. But even then, her spirit never broke. Today, Luna has not only healed physically, but she has begun to show us who she truly is. She has also successfully completed a professional board-and-train program, where she built confidence, stability, and learned what it feels like to move through the world safely. She is gentle, soulful, petite, and incredibly sweet. There’s a calmness about her that you feel instantly a quiet, grounding presence that brings peace to those around her. She carries a sense of gratitude that’s hard to describe, like she knows she is safe now. Luna and Sol are incredibly bonded and will be adopted out as a pair. They are the kind of dogs you don’t come across often soft, loving, and deeply connected. Together, they will give their whole hearts to their family.
