My story

Beth Ann is a low key dog, who is looking for a home that will be better than her last one. And she deserves it. She knows the world can be a scary place, and she approaches it cautiously. We don't know much about her back story, but her actions indicate that she was mistreated, neglected and frightened. She craves security and does well in a crate, but she is a sweet dog, who welcomes positive attention. She should have a fenced in yard, and any children should be respectful of her boundaries. She is a quiet girl, and she is not a fan of sudden, loud noises. Of course, she is going to need time to decompress and get accustomed to new people and surroundings. At this time, she would rather relax at home than take a leash walk around the neighborhood. But we believe that will change with time and trust. Love, affection and treats, will be the key to a successful transition as she learns to trust her new family and to appreciate her new life. Medical issues: skin issues when first rescued, taken off chicken, suspect allergies to chicken based food Good with women: yes, will be shy initially Good with men: yes, will be shy initially Good with kids: yes, peaceful, quiet and respectful older kids Good with other dogs: yes, she is fine around other dogs, but has shown possessiveness over toys and food with another dog that she has lived with. Is scared of high energy in your face dogs and will try to retreat Good with cats: unknown, but hasn't shown a prey drive at all House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: low-medium Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: no Flight risk: yes, will be a flight risk initially. Loud noises and too much commotion scare her and her first instinct is to run Food aggressive: may be with other dogs not people Current food: sensitive skin kibble Walks on leash: yes, but right now she isn't confident walking super far, and especially not in noisy or action packed areas. But with time and trust I believe she would loves to go on walks with her person Leash reactive to people or dogs: no, she is shy Rides well in car: yes Destructive: no, just loves to rip apart stuffed animals - she will ingest the parts if not supervised Needs a home with a yard: yes Needs a home with another dog: no Can live in an apartment: no Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
