My story

Cookie is an incredibly sweet little girl who is still gaining confidence in her new world. Her favourite place is right beside her person-or even better, curled up in your lap. She loves being close and is happiest when she knows she's safe and loved. She enjoys playing and would love to join in with the other dogs, but her timid nature makes her a little unsure at first. With patience and a little time, she continues to come out of her shell. She has adjusted beautifully to living with six other dogs in her foster home, proving that she's capable of adapting when given the chance. Cookie is respectful around cats, choosing to simply avoid them, and she does well with both children and adults. She appears to have spent much of her previous life indoors with an elderly owner, with limited exposure to other dogs or new experiences, so everything is still a bit new to her. Despite her shy start, Cookie has a heart full of love and so much potential. She's the kind of dog who forms a deep bond with her family and will reward your patience with endless loyalty, quiet companionship, and sweet cuddles. She's such a lovable little girl!! Medical: No known medical issues Neck size (for collar): 11". Chest circumference (for harness): 16" Height (from top of head): 12.5" Length (from nose to base of tail): 20" Crate size recommended: 18" W x 24" D x 20" H Good with adults: Yes Good with kids: Yes Good with other dogs: Yes, but she is timid around them initially Good with cats: Yes, though she prefers to avoid them House trained: Potty pad trained and doing very well transitioning to going outside Crate trained: Yes, she was only crated during her first couple of days in foster care and did well Energy level: Medium Can be handled/touched: Yes Barker: Minimal Flight risk: Unknown; should always be kept safely contained or on leash Food aggressive: No Current food: Purina Pro Plan (she loves a little gravy or broth mixed in!) Walks on leash: Yes Leash reactive to people or dogs: No Rides well in car: Yes Destructive: No Needs a home with a yard: A yard would be a bonus but isn't required. Needs a home with another dog: She would do wonderfully with a gentle, small dog to help build her confidence, but she would also be happy as an only dog Can live in an apartment: Yes if located in a quiet community Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cookie (20260725-01), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
