My story

Some dogs make a grand entrance into your life. Pato's story began much more quietly. He was found wandering the streets of Mexico near a busy taco stand, politely approaching strangers in hopes of finding a bite to eat. He wasn't demanding or frantic-just a gentle soul looking for a little kindness. When our rescue team found him, we knew he deserved more than surviving one day at a time. He was taken straight to the veterinarian for a full medical assessment before settling into our boarding facility, where he has patiently waited for the family he's always deserved. Today, Pato has blossomed into a wonderful companion. With his calm, medium-energy personality, Pato enjoys life's simple pleasures. He loves exploring new places with quiet curiosity, taking leisurely walks, and spending time outdoors. After an adventure, he's perfectly happy to curl up beside his people-or even better, climb right into your lap for a peaceful cuddle. While he enjoys affection, he isn't clingy or demanding. He's content simply being near the people he loves. Pato has been living peacefully alongside many other rescue dogs, mostly females, and has proven himself to be respectful, stable, and easy-going. He isn't reactive toward people or female dogs and rarely barks, making him a wonderfully relaxed companion. Inside the home, Pato is just as easy to love. He enjoys lounging in cozy spots, follows routines well, and balances playtime with plenty of relaxation. Whether he's exploring the yard, enjoying an interactive game, or simply resting quietly by your side, Pato is happiest sharing everyday moments with the people he trusts. His ideal family will appreciate his gentle nature and be willing to continue his leash and house-training while giving him the time and patience to adjust to a new home. In return, Pato will reward them with unwavering loyalty, quiet companionship, and a heart full of love. Pato is fully vaccinated, neutered, and will travel to Canada with complete veterinary records. He has already overcome life on the streets and is now ready for his greatest adventure yet-a forever home where he will never have to wonder where his next meal, warm bed, or loving embrace will come from. If you're looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will happily join you on walks, quietly relax by your side, and occasionally insist that your lap belongs to him, Pato may be the perfect addition to your family. After everything he's been through, Pato isn't asking for much-just a safe place to call home and someone to love for the rest of his life. Good with women: Yes Good with men: Yes Good with children: Yes, older children recommended as his interactions with kids has been limited Good with other dogs: Yes, Pato gets along well with other dogs, especially females. He currently lives with several female dogs in our boarding facility and coexists peacefully with them. He does best with males that are very submissive and playful. Good with cats: Yes, Pato has been around cats without any known issues House trained: In progress, frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help him continue building good house-training habits Crate trained: In progress Energy Level: Medium Can be handled/touched: Yes Flight risk: No, but extra caution should always be taken in the beginning Food aggression: No Barker: No, Pato is generally a quiet dog and is not known to bark excessively Walks on leash: Yes, Pato walks well overall but would benefit from continued leash training using positive reinforcement and a properly fitted harness Leash reactive to people or dogs: No Rides well in cars: Yes Destructive: No Needs a home with a yard: Preferred Needs a home with another dog: No Can live in an apartment: No Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
