Birdie

My story

Birdie is a puppy just under 3-months old, and she may be the smallest of her siblings, but she has absolutely no plans to let that slow her down! Mom is a Husky Shepherd mix and their dad is unknown, making these puppies a true mystery mix with a little surprise in their family tree! This friendly, playful, active girl is a tiny bundle of puppy enthusiasm who loves people, dogs, and joining in on every adventure. Birdie is incredibly food motivated, which has already helped her learn "sit," "come," and "leave it." She loves playing with her puppy siblings and the adult dog in her foster home and has even successfully met cats. She is mostly housetrained with only very occasional accidents and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. Birdie is a particularly enthusiastic little eater, so she currently does well with smaller meals and a slow feeder. Apparently, being the smallest doesn't mean she plans on sharing dinner! Birdie is a classic puppy who loves to dig, chew, jump up for attention, and generally keep everyone entertained. Luckily, she is very responsive to distraction, redirection, and positive reinforcement, making these behaviours excellent opportunities to teach her what we want her to do instead. She is also still working on her crate training and puppy manners, so continued obedience training will be important as she grows. Birdie would be perfect for a family who wants a fun, active puppy and is ready to put some time into training and positive reinforcement. She has plenty of personality packed into her little body and will keep her family laughing, learning, and very well entertained! Our adoption fees cover all up to date veterinary needs, including but not limited to: full veterinary examination, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test and parasite prevention, wellness bloodwork, spay or neuter, and microchip. All dogs will be started on a 6 week trial of pet insurance after adoption.
