My story

Oakley is a puppy just under 3-months old, and she is a wonderfully balanced little girl who knows how to enjoy both playtime and downtime. Mom is a Husky Shepherd mix and their dad is unknown, making these puppies a true mystery mix with a little surprise in their family tree! Friendly, playful, and active, Oakley loves being part of the action but is also perfectly happy to settle down when the fun is over. Oakley is already showing off her smart side and knows "sit," "come," and "leave it." She loves playing with her puppy siblings and the adult dog in her foster home and has successfully met cats. She is mostly housetrained with only very occasional accidents and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. Like her siblings, she is very food motivated and can be enthusiastic about mealtime, so a slow feeder may be helpful for encouraging her to enjoy her food at a more civilized pace. Oakley is still very much a puppy, which means digging, chewing, jumping, and vocal play are all part of her current rsum! The good news is that she responds well to distraction, redirection, and positive reinforcement. She is continuing to learn crate training, housetraining, and puppy manners, and obedience training will help her build a strong foundation for becoming a fantastic adult companion. Oakley would thrive with a family looking for a puppy who can keep up with playtime but also appreciate a good nap afterward. She'll need a family ready to guide her with consistency, patience, and positive training, and in return she'll offer plenty of fun, affection, and puppy joy. Our adoption fees cover all up to date veterinary needs, including but not limited to: full veterinary examination, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test and parasite prevention, wellness bloodwork, spay or neuter, and microchip. All dogs will be started on a 6 week trial of pet insurance after adoption. Local adopters can take advantage of 50% off a training course at Ruff Haus in Barrie (www.ruffhaus.ca) and all adopters will also be signed up for Petcademy to offer 30 days of free text-based behavioural support. Please visit our website www.preciouspawsrescue.ca to submit an adoption application.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Oakley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
