Elsa is a 1½-year-old, 32-pound mixed breed dog who recently joined us!Elsa is a playful, energetic girl with plenty of enthusiasm for life. She loves playing with other dogs and has done well with her canine friends here. Her play style can be energetic, though, so a calmer dog who prefers to take it easy might find Elsa to be a bit much. For a dog who enjoys an active playmate, she could be a great match!Elsa already knows “sit” and even held her sit while having a slip lead placed. She’s learning good manners at doors, too. She responds well when asked to sit and wait and has even started offering the behavior on her own. Her leash skills could use some practice, but she frequently checks in with her handler—a great foundation for continuing her training. This affectionate girl loves attention and is always happy to hand out kisses. She enjoyed being petted and brushed, with her tail wagging the entire time! Elsa can get excited and jump up to greet people, so she’ll benefit from a family who can help her channel all that enthusiasm into good manners. While Elsa likes to stay on the move and has plenty of playful energy, she also knows how to settle nicely when the fun is over. Toys haven’t interested her much so far, and treats aren’t a major motivator, although when she does take one, she accepts it gently.Elsa would love a family who enjoys being active and will continue working with her on her training. Once the weather cools down, we think this energetic girl could make a fantastic hiking buddy! If your ideal companion is playful, affectionate, energetic, and generous with kisses, Elsa might be your new animal family member. 💙To get started in the process of meeting Elsa, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In the event there is more than one home interested in the same animal, a lottery may be held that will include all families that are at our adoption center at the time we open the day the animal becomes available. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Elsa, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
