Meet Monica! 💕Monica is a 1-year-old, 28-pound mixed breed dog who recently joined us and is looking for her forever home!Monica is a sweet, attentive girl who enjoys being with people. She’ll stand quietly for petting while making eye contact, and when treats come out, her personality really shines. This girl is very treat motivated—she’ll even do a little dance for a tasty reward! Monica already knows “sit” and is happy to show off what she knows when snacks are involved. On walks, Monica is easy to leash up and walks nicely, though she may pull a little from time to time. She’s also shown that she can stand patiently during handling activities, including our “helicopter game.” Toys and balls haven’t caught her interest so far, but treats are definitely the way to her heart. When it comes to canine friends, Monica seems to prefer the company of calmer dogs who match her style. As always, we can help with introductions to see if a potential canine companion might be a good fit.Monica can sometimes express herself with a high-pitched bark, so she’ll be happiest in a home without shared walls rather than an apartment or condo. With her treat-loving dances, sweet eye contact, and eagerness to connect with people, Monica is ready to find a family who will appreciate everything that makes her special.Could Monica be your new animal family member? To get started in the process of meeting Monica, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In the event there is more than one home interested in the same animal, a lottery may be held that will include all families that are at our adoption center at the time we open the day the animal becomes available. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Monica, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
