My story

*Currently, Maji is in Korea but he will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption applicaiton, please click here.Adopt Maji, a Gentle Young Girl Who Keeps Life SimpleMaji is just over a year old, but she has a quiet, steady way about her. She is gentle, easygoing, and undemanding.Quick FactsBreed: Jindo medium mix (13.5 kg) · Sex: Female · Born: July 2025 · Location: Korea · Traits: Calm, gentle, affectionate · Health: Spayed, vaccinatedBackgroundMaji was rescued in the summer of 2026 from a dog meat farm in Icheon, Korea. Since her rescue she has been living at a boarding house, where she has settled in easily and become one of the quieter, steadier dogs in the group.PersonalityMaji is calm and well-mannered, with a soft affectionate streak that comes out once she’s near her people. She has no shyness with strangers and doesn’t mind whether she’s meeting a man or a woman. Her energy is moderate, so she’s happy to go out and explore and equally happy to settle down afterward. Her caregivers describe her as gentle and easy, the kind of dog who quietly gets on with things.CompatibilityMaji is comfortable with both men and women and greets new people without hesitation. She has limited experience with young children, so if she is adopted by a family with kids, parents should always supervise their interactions to keep everyone safe and comfortable. It is important that parents take full responsibility for teaching both their children and their dog how to interact appropriately, and helping children understand a dog’s boundaries and body language is especially important. She gets along well with other dogs, though she has clear preferences. Maji enjoys the company of calm, easygoing dogs and would rather not be crowded by pushy playmates who get right in her face. A polite, mellow canine friend would suit her well.Maji hasn’t lived with cats before, so we can’t say for certain how she’d do. Knowing her calm, gentle nature, though, we think it’s possible with a slow, gradual introduction, plenty of patience, and enough space for each of them to have their own retreat while they get used to one another.Behaviours & TrainingMaji takes daily life in stride. She rides well in the car, handles vet visits without fuss, and is cooperative at bath time. She enjoys her walks and has plenty of walking experience. She prefers to relieve herself outdoors, has no notable barking, and isn’t a chewer. Her caregivers haven’t noticed any signs of separation anxiety.Health & DietMaji is spayed, dewormed, micorchipped and up to date on her vaccinations. She has had no other surgeries or treatments, and no known allergies. She has passed her veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home. She eats kibble twice a day and has not shown any food allergies or sensitivities so far.Ideal HomeMaji would do well in a calm household where she can settle at her own pace. She isn’t a demanding dog by nature, but like any rescue arriving in a new environment, she will need time to adjust and get comfortable. A family who can offer patience, gentle structure, and clear boundaries while she finds her footing is a must. A home that enjoys daily walks will keep her happy, and an existing dog with a similarly relaxed temperament would be a lovely match for her. After the start she had in life, Maji is ready for a family who will give her the quiet, steady love she’s been waiting for.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Maji, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
