My story

Meet Barbara, our 4-year-old professional goofball with a big personality and an even bigger heart.Barbara is silly, playful, affectionate, and always ready for a good time. She LOVES treats, chasing toys, and tearing around the yard with some truly impressive zoomies. Fair warning, when Barbara gets going, personal space becomes more of a suggestion than a rule ??Once she knows you, Barbara is incredibly sweet and people-focused. She can take a little time to feel comfortable with someone new, especially men, and hats or sunglasses can sometimes make her unsure. The good news? Treats are very persuasive, and once you’re in her circle, you’ll get to see her soft, smushy, affectionate side.Barbara enjoys her walks and has pretty good leash manners, although she may pull a little when something catches her attention. She can be uncomfortable passing unfamiliar people on walks, particularly men, so she would do best with someone who is willing to give her space, advocate for her, and continue helping her build confidence.She’s an enthusiastic girl and can get a little mouthy or jumpy when she gets really excited or overstimulated, but she redirects well with clear boundaries and a chance to settle. She also shows some mild guarding behaviour with toys, mostly hunkering down over them, so this is something her new family should continue to manage appropriately.Barbara knows “sit” and “paw,” rides well in the car, and is extremely food motivated, which should make continued training pretty fun. A slow feeder is probably a good idea because this girl does not believe in taking her time when dinner is involved.Barbara isn’t looking for perfection. She’s looking for someone who will appreciate her goofy personality, help her feel safe when the world seems a little strange, and give her plenty of opportunities to play, learn, cuddle and zoom.If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you on your toes and absolutely adore you once you earn her trust, Barbara might just be your girl. ??
