My story

DIXIE — STAGE 5 CLINGER SEEKING FOREVER VICTIM 2½ Years Old | Professional Kisser | Personal Space: Absolutely Not FOUND TOGETHER, READY FOR MY OWN STORY Hi, I’m Dixie! I came to Freedom Frenchie Rescue with my buddy Colt after we were found together in an industrial area of Long Beach. Nobody came to claim us, and another rescue reached out to FFR asking if they could take us. Of course, they said yes. I TOOK MY BODYGUARD JOB WAY TOO SERIOUSLY At first, everyone thought Colt and I might be a package deal, but it became pretty clear that I took my job as his self-appointed bodyguard a little too seriously. I could be reactive when he was around because I was always trying to protect him, while Colt was basically like, “Girl, relax. I’m trying to have fun.” Once we were separated, I was able to just be Dixie—and turns out, Dixie is a pretty awesome little critter. YOUR PERSONAL SPACE IS NOW MY PERSONAL SPACE My foster says I am NEXT LEVEL when it comes to having absolutely no concept of personal space. I don’t just want to sit next to you. I want to be ON you, touching you, kissing you and possibly attempting to crawl directly into your skin. I am extremely persistent about this. What do you expect I was abandoned and had to survive. And my tongue? I have never once considered keeping it to myself. Expect an EXCESSIVE amount of kisses. Always. TEN MINUTES OF FETCH, THEN BACK TO CLINGING I’m a very sweet, needy little girl who absolutely lives for my people. I also love a good game of fetch—give me about 10 solid minutes and I’m a happy camper. FOUR DOGS? COOL, I CAN WORK WITH THAT I currently live with four other dogs and have done great with all of them. My foster took things slowly with cautious, short introductions, and once I was comfortable, I settled right in. I haven’t shown aggression toward any of them, and I don’t resource guard toys or my person. I do need decompression time, so please respect that. I’VE GOT THE HOUSE RULES DOWN I’m crate trained and currently eat and sleep in my kennel. I’m also potty trained as long as you keep me on a schedule and pay attention to my cues. I even handled my bath like a champ and seemed to enjoy it! Bring on the spa days and the bubbles! READY TO GO WHERE YOU GO I haven’t had a ton of adventures yet, but I did go out for my spay and did great. I rode nicely in the car and walked well on leash going into the clinic. FOUR PAWS ON THE FLOOR IS A WORK IN PROGRESS Now, we do need to discuss my enthusiasm. I LOVE PEOPLE. Like… a lot. I get so excited that I jump up and can take a while to settle myself down. I’m a young merle so not sure what you’re expecting I am a month in to this loving life thing. I’ll need someone willing to work with me on keeping four paws on the floor and learning that I can love people without launching my entire body at them. I am requesting leader resumes. INDEPENDENT WOMAN? NEVER HEARD OF HER If you’re looking for an independent girl who appreciates her alone time, keep scrolling. I’m learning it but there are no guarentees, that comes with time trust of being in a home forever and leading me to confidence. LOOKING FOR MY FOREVER PERSON TO SMOTHER WITH LOVE But if you want a ridiculously affectionate, people-obsessed, kiss-distributing, fetch-playing little shadow who believes personal space is a completely unnecessary human invention… Hi. I’m Dixie. I’ve been waiting for you. Dixie is spay, vaccinated, and microchipped, her adoption donation fee is $1150.00. She is currently being fostered in Phoenix AZ, you can apply for her at freedomfrenchieresuce.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dixie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
