QUICK FACTS Name: Jingu Age: About 10 Months Old Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Jindo – Shepherd Mix Color: Brown and Black Weight: 11kg / 24.3lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I was rescued from a city shelter when I was at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, rescuers stepped in and brought me to safety, giving me a second chance and a new beginning filled with care and kindness. Now, I’m ready to leave that uncertain chapter behind and look forward to finding a loving forever family to call my own.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Neutered & healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY Hi, I’m Jingu! I’m a quiet, gentle dog with an adorably distinctive face—my darker coloring around my mouth looks a little like I’ve gotten into something messy, and my floppy ears only add to my charm. Even though I’m still a puppy, I’m surprisingly calm and subdued. My rescuers especially notice the intelligence and gentle nature that come through once you spend a little time with me. Right now, I’m still quite shy because I haven’t had enough opportunities to learn that unfamiliar people and environments are safe. When I’m nervous, my instinct is to retreat and make myself as small and unnoticeable as possible. I’m not a pup who should be rushed into exploring or socializing before I’m ready—giving me time to observe and settle is incredibly important. There’s an interesting contrast to my shyness, though: even when I’m nervous, I’m remarkably gentle. If an unfamiliar person approaches me, I generally allow them to touch, hold, and pick me up without resistance. Once I’ve been given a little time, I’ll also accept treats, and food can be a very useful way to help me build positive associations and start connecting with someone. I may be the puppy hiding in the corner when we first meet, but that isn’t necessarily the dog I’ll always be. My rescuers believe that with time in a stable home, I have the potential to relax and open up much more. I’d love a patient family who can see beyond my initial fear and appreciate the incredibly gentle, intelligent boy underneath. If you’re willing to celebrate trust in small steps—and perhaps have a kind canine friend to help show me the way—I’m ready to learn what it feels like to stop hiding and start belonging.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I can be a little shy when I first meet someone and may not feel comfortable taking treats from an unfamiliar person right away. I prefer to have some time to get to know you and build trust at my own pace, and once I feel comfortable, I’ll allow gentle pets and handling. I’m also comfortable being gently picked up with an arm supporting me under my belly. · With Dogs: I’m comfortable approaching unfamiliar dogs to say hello, especially dogs around my own size, but I generally don’t show much interest in playing or interacting beyond a friendly greeting. Even though I tend to do my own thing around other dogs, their presence gives me reassurance, and I often feel more secure and settled when I have a friend nearby. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level – I enjoy spending time outdoors, but I’m also happy to settle down and relax afterward. On walks, I may pull on the leash at times, but overall, I follow my person well. I’m especially interested in all the smells around me, so I tend to take my time and make plenty of stops to sniff and explore along the way.   TRAINING & HABITS I don’t guard my food around people or other dogs I rarely bark. I’m calm and settled when I’m in a kennel I’m accustomed to doing my business outdoors, so I generally prefer outdoor potty breaks.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together A family that will love and cherish me forever A family that has a gentle, stable dog friend whom I can rely on for reassurance and building confidence   SPECIAL NOTES Other dogs can be an especially important source of reassurance for me. I rely heavily on my littermates and being close to another dog seems to help me feel much more secure. A calm, social, and friendly companion could potentially be a wonderful confidence-builder in my future home. The personality of that dog matters, though—I’d benefit most from a gentle, stable friend who can model confidence without overwhelming me. My initial adjustment after adoption will require extra care. Secure management, a calm environment, slow introductions, and plenty of patience will be essential while I learn my new surroundings.
