MEET BINDI — 18 POUNDS OF WRESTLING, SUNSHINE & SPACE-CADET ENERGY FROM STRAY TO SAFE Hi, I’m Bindi! I’m three years old, weigh a whopping 18 pounds, and I came to Freedom Frenchie Rescue from the Arizona Humane Society after I was found as a stray. When I arrived, I had painful masses in my ears that bothered me so much I was constantly digging at them. FFR knew I needed help and got me into surgery, and I eventually had TECA surgery. My hearing may be different now, but I'm comfortable, happy, and living my very best little Bindi life. YES, I CAN HEAR YOU… MOSTLY Let's clear something up because people hear "TECA" and assume I can't hear anything. Yes, I can hear, but my hearing isn't 100%, so sometimes you're going to have to speak a little louder to get my attention. Interestingly, my hearing seems to experience a miraculous recovery when a bag of chips opens. I can also detect a food dish being prepared from what feels like three rooms away, and I'll immediately appear beside you asking whether you've considered sharing. So don't worry about me too much—I may miss you calling my name occasionally, but somehow I never miss snack-related activities. TURNS OUT, I’M NOT JUST A SPACE CADET My foster dad has always said I'm one of the easiest, sweetest little girls, and that part hasn't changed. What HAS changed is that apparently I was holding out on everyone because now that I'm comfortable, my playful side has arrived. I still have my hilarious Bindi moments where I stare out the window or sit outside contemplating the meaning of life, but now I might follow that up by body-slamming one of my friends and starting a wrestling match. I contain multitudes. SURI, PREPARE TO RUMBLE I'm currently fostered with Suri, and somewhere along the way, we became really good friends and playmates. I LOVE having another little dog around who wants to wrestle, play, and participate in my daily nonsense. Watching the two of us together has shown everyone just how much I enjoy canine companionship because once I'm comfortable, I'm not just hanging around the other dogs anymore—I'm joining the fun. A home with another playful dog could be a really great fit for me. WELCOME TO MY HOME, PLEASE ACCEPT YOUR KISSES If you have guests over, don't worry about greeting them because I've already assigned myself that job. I am the official welcoming committee, and I take my responsibilities very seriously. New person at the door? Excellent. Please come inside so I can greet you with hugs, kisses, and enough enthusiasm to make you wonder whether we've actually met before. I LOVE people, I love getting pets, and if I could carry your guests' bags inside like a tiny 18-pound butler, I absolutely would. Unfortunately, I lack both thumbs and upper-body strength, so hugs and kisses will have to do. OUTSIDE IS BETTER WHEN MY PERSON IS THERE I love being outside, especially when my person comes with me. Give me some nice weather, a little sunshine, a yard to wander around in, and my human nearby, and I'm one happy little girl. I don't need you to entertain me every second because I'm perfectly capable of exploring, sniffing, watching the world, or finding a comfortable place to hang out. I just really like knowing you're there because apparently sunshine is better when you have somebody you love sitting in it with you. YES, I STILL TALK TO MYSELF One of my funniest qualities hasn't changed at all: I talk to myself ALL THE TIME. I'll wander around mumbling, grumbling, investigating something, playing with a toy, or apparently having a very serious conversation with absolutely nobody. Maybe it's because my hearing is limited, or maybe I simply find myself fascinating. Either way, living with me means occasionally wondering who Bindi is talking to before realizing the answer is, once again, Bindi. INDEPENDENT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T LOVE YOU I'm a really nice combination of affectionate and independent. I love my people and will absolutely come looking for pets and affection, but I don't need to be attached to you every second of the day. I can wrestle with Suri, entertain myself, find a comfy place to nap, or just hang out while you're doing your own thing. Then I'll decide I've gone long enough without attention and come remind you that there's an adorable 18-pound Frenchie standing nearby who could really use some scratches. FOOD CHANGES EVERYTHING I'm incredibly laid-back about most things in life, but when food enters the situation, all bets are off. My foster dad cooks food in the crockpot, which means I'm expected to smell something delicious for HOURS before anyone actually feeds me. I continue to believe this qualifies as psychological warfare, so when dinner is finally served, you can bet I'm showing up early. I'm also learning to catch treats, and while my enthusiasm is considerably better than my accuracy, I refuse to give up. I'VE GOT THE HOUSE ROUTINE DOWN I know how to use the doggy door, and if I can't get outside, I know how to use a potty pad. I'm easy to have around the house, happy to sleep wherever I find a comfortable spot, and perfectly capable of settling when playtime is over. I can go from wrestling match to professional napper without much transition time, which is basically one of the core requirements of being a French Bulldog. TINY GIRL, VERY BIG LIFE At only 18 pounds, I'm a tiny little package with a lot more personality than anyone originally realized. I love car rides and being included in adventures, but I'm equally happy spending the day with my person, my dog friends, some sunshine, good food, and a comfortable place to nap. I'm sweet, funny, playful, affectionate, dog friendly, and apparently qualified for a future career in hospitality if someone can figure out how to make me a tiny butler uniform. I THINK I'VE GOT THIS HAPPY THING FIGURED OUT After everything I've been through, I'm not asking for anything complicated. I want a person who loves me, another dog who wouldn't mind the occasional Bindi wrestling championship, some outside time when the weather is nice, plenty of pets, good food, and a comfortable place to crash when the fun is over. My hearing may not be 100%, but my ability to love absolutely is—and between my kisses, wrestling matches, space-cadet moments, snack detection system, and personal welcoming committee services, life with me is going to be anything but boring. Bindi is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped and her adoption donation fee is $1150.00. She is currently fostered in Scottsdale, AZ and you can apply for her on our website freedomfrenchierescue.org
